Jaguar V12 Marelli Jumper
I see the connector-black and yellow-I see mine has a black wire jumper but am I missing a yellow jumper wire? 1992 v12-the black wire does not move so it looks like this is not a wire you can disconnect...HELP!
that plug is for the mapping of the marelli ecu , if the loop is fitted then the engine map is for 95 ron fuel or higher ,
if the loop is removed, the ecu is mapped to use 92 ron fuel ,
it essentially tells the ecu what fuel is available to you where you fill up
so if your using 92 ron fuel , remove the loop , which is probably why it wasnt plugged in to start with , and your engine should run better and cooler

and with this connector bypassed what will it do for performance? My 92 is already a slug and gets less than 15 miles to the gallon.

the mapping for different fuel types is essential for good mpg and performance,
if you have the wrong map selected, then you wont get the correct timing and fuel injected for correct performance
as i said, if you have 95ron fuel or better, leave the loop in , if its less than 95 ron fuel at your pump , you must remove the loop

my 92 has a black jumper wire but it does not look like it can be removed-some have talked about a yellow jumper wire-is the black wire in place on mine the jumper wire or is there another wire to be jumped? I see 3 slots in the top of the connector..
BB is correct, the later Marelli V12's were high compression (12-12.5:1) depending on market. I think mine is 12.5, and is on the verge of pinging most of the time. If you run lower than 95RON I would remove the link. We have 98 here so I leave mine all of the time. I have never run it on anything but 98.
After reading the posts I went out and found my jumper/connector and removed it.
Should there be a noticeable difference?
Should it be immediate or over a period of time?
I'm not sure I could detect any change in performance.
Is there a problem if I don't feel a difference?
I only use premium gas fwiw.
