Default Marelli Coil Connectors - Is there a quick fix?

Just installed both coils, but the little tabs on the connectors were brittle and busted off. The connector still fits snugly with its little orange rubber sleeve, but there's no way to keep them connected with changes in temp, vibration, etc. This may become unsettling. I can not find the connectors anywhere as the JAG dealer can not find a part number, only the entire 15 foot long harness...

Thinking I should simply electrical-tape the crap out of the connection...???

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm having a brain fade on exactly what the connector looks like but.....I'd use a small dab of silicone adhesive. It'll be enough to keep the connector from backing out but you'll still be able to pull it apart if you need to.

If you really, really, REALLY want to replace the connectors I'll bet you can find them online. Don't search under Jaguar. Search under "OEM automotive electrical connectors" or similar. A lot of this stuff IS out there....but it can take hours to find it sometimes.

Cheers

Click here and scroll down to "coil pack, early style". It might be the same

http://www.currentperformance.com/Co...rtec4_5_6.html

If not, try sending them the pic....they can probably help. If not, there are many other vendors.

I rescued an XJS over the weekend that was crank/no start. I found that these 4-pin black connectors to the ignition coils were in terrible shape. The insulation on the wires was also missing in several places. The "top" connector had a single cavity that had broken off near the terminal, but the "bottom" connector was almost completely disenigrated. This connector was not even plugged in and none of the terminals were still retained enough to allow reliable connection. I luckily had one of these lying around for a different application (had to break off the key to get it to insert) and replaced the connector body. She fired right up!

Thanks for the links to getting the correct connector bodies. I will replace both of them and the terminals with the pigtails from currentperformance.com

I dunno.

This might be of some use to you? Not sure what's available in your neck of the woods.

If you go on ebay and search for '4 pin superseal connector', I think the male connector in those generic sets is what fits the Marelli coil.

I think they're also called AMP or TYCO connectors.
