Beat me to posting this, the engine is brilliant, the body is......over the top for a Jaguar, tone it down maybe go with that German company for some mild styling if need be. 650hp though not bad for a design from the 60s
Reckon the designer plays too many Grand Theft Auto or Need for Speed games.
Just take an XJS and stick Aston Martin Vantage running gear under it - lot of it is based on the XJS - way more power than a rear wheel drive only car needs on a public road - too heavy for a track car in any form suitable for use as a daily. Better still for what this will cost just buy a secondhand V12 DB11 - or even a DB9.
I guess they're hoping that the TWR branding fools people - I don't think any of the original TWR crew are involved in this.
This is not for us, this is not for the Western world. We're just in a odd time for the Automotive sector and design in general for the Western world. There's a 'large few' very rich people in new places like Dubai and China who love excess and just want what no-one else has and they can pay for it. This appeals to their garish sensibilities. Some of these design exercises hit the mark and some dont and look off to a classical eye of a Westerner. Excess and inconguity, that's the ethos of the designer, Khyzyl Saleem. Check out his other work.
We are in an interesting time for design because almost anything can be done now with modern matherials, techiques and liquidity. The Occulus in Manhattan is a good example of amazing technological achievement in design and materials with buckets of Liquidity while beeing odd and not working at scale in real life. People vote with their feet and the Occulus is usually empty.
Not really loving all the excess body work around the wheels. With a minor flare the XJS OE body work can handle a 11 inch wheel so this car is mostly style and little to no substance. I do like the center console though.
I wouldn't want to hear supercharger whine covering over the smoth duodenary voice that is a NA v12. If they dont understand that then they have no idea what real car enthuiasm is. The same mistake was made with the XJ220 when it got it's V6.
Singer Porsche's are a good example of restrained excess but they started with an Icon and do all the details extremely well. Then there's all the Volvo P1800 restomods. Most are great. Same formula, restained excess. Sadly for this XJS there isn't much restsaint and only excess.
I would imagine the guys at TWR are not going to do well with this exercise in the West. The Jaguar brand also just took a major hit with the release of their new and colorful woke marketing campaign, a sinking tide lowers all boats.
What happened to Mangus Walker's involvement? I'm guessing he didnt like the direction and walked away.

Maybe it is for us... LOL. One turned up just a few miles from me and I was invited to see the car in the flesh Saturday night in NYC. In person it's way better than in pictures, It's looks far less ridiculous in person, to me anyway. I got to inspect the mechanicals and that's where this car really stands out to me. Its the real deal under the skin, if the skin appeals to you then she's a banger!
The paint was 2nd to none. The build quality was great. The interior is very appealing. The shut lines were all not good. I presume it's extremely difficulty to match custom low production body panels to an older chassis that probably wasn't great when it left the factory and that really showed. Easy to give TWR a pass on this.
I really applaud TWR for giving this project the green light. I hope and do think they will sell everyone despite the shut lines. TWR has done more to elevate the Jaguar brand than anyone else, in the past and now. They should be celebrated for this.
