Default new walnut burl steering wheel with airbag upgrade

i made another burl steering wheel and recolored the airbag and the rest of the steering wheel to match my interior upholstery. i thought the black wheel and airbag stood out like a sore thumb and thought to modify it. i used Dupli-color vinyl paint for a basecoat and vinyl dye the same color ( barley ) as my interior color. 2 coats of the vinyl paint as a base and then applied the dye with a soft cloth and let dry. i then put a nu-vinyl over it. looks to be pretty durable but then how often does one scratch the air bag! time will tell.

Looks impressive. You could try painting the Jaguar head and surround to make it pop a bit more.

What do you mean by you made another burl wood wheel? Did you make the wheel? Recovered it with veneer? Mind elaborating?

According to this thread, it's plywood with walnut patterns painted over it, not a full bent-wood wheel.

you missed my first wheel post then.
this is the second wheel i made. i took a wheel, stripped the leather and rubber core, recovered it with a wood body and did a fake walnut burl stain pattern and then applied approx. 6 coats of polyurethane. the air bag and wheel body i used a vinyl paint and dye to recover it. the last picture is the second wheel i made and then recolored to match my interior
some pics:

this is the You tube video where i got the idea. only i had no way to do the vacuum pressing of the veneer so i experimented with using gel stain and it worked out ok.
