Default Noisy Motor Behind Rear Seat Back and Behind the Spare Tire

Still working minor bugs out of my "new" 1993 XJS Coupe. Tried to repair the fog light until I read the manual Fortunately never got started. OK, have a noisy electric motor behind the rear seat back and behind the spare tire. Cannot find any info in the Car Manual or the Jaguar Service Manual on its location. I think it is a fan motor but not sure. Would like to know how to approach the repair. Do you remove the back seat back, or do you approach it from the trunk?
Thanks

Its probably the fuel pump. Does it run for a few seconds when key turned to on? If so fuel pump is worn or fuel filters are plugged.

Sound is too high up to be the fuel pump. It appears to emanate just below the vents across the lower rear window. Is there a fan there or a motor? I don't want to pull the rear seat and not be able to find the problem. Put it all back and pull the tire.....

Not sure about the 93, my 78 only has the fuel pump in that area. Are you certain it is not the pump?

No, i am not sure. I need to know how to get to the electric motor or fuel pump. All I know is I can hear it and the more I think about it only when the motor is running. Must check that out. If it only makes the noise when the motor is running, it must be the fuel pump. In any case, how do I get to the fuel pump? Through the trunk or by removing the back seat?

I believe the fuel pump is on top of the tank at the back. Not positive.

Afterburner1,

The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. Removal is detailed in your workshop manual.

Good luck

Raul ....or anybody
Is there a special tool required to remove the two fuel lines under the car? I saw on the XJ8 that a tool had to be fabricated. The manual does not speak to a tool and I have not been under the car and do not want any surprises
Went to NTB today and asked the price to install a fuel filter. Jag alleges in front of rear axle Two fitting. Was quoted $100.00 installation cost and I assume extra for filter. Walked out shaking my head!

PS To get to the tank you go through the trunk not rear seat
