Default Pics of engine bay - what is this?

Pic #1 is the right front of the engine bay. There is a pump of some sort driven by a drive belt. Behind the pump is a valve that has a vacuum line from the intake manifold. When I plug in the vac line, I get a hollow sort of pumping noise.

Pic 2 is the rear of the rt side intake manifold, there are 4 vac lines, one plugs into the pump noted above, two others go into other lines and one is plugged. Is there supposed to be one plugged?

Pic 3 is the left side of the motor, above the "vee". At the connector i'm pointing my finger at, there is a rattling sound when running. Any idea what this is and why it rattles?

Thanks in advance!

Picture "1" is the air pump. Sounds odd at best, sucks power from the engine, hence we ditch them.

Picture "2" showing the "plugged spigot is normal, that is for our "downunder" cars, yours may/may not be different, sounds like they are the same.

Picture "3" is the fuel rail temp switch, and it has NO moving parts that I know of, so why is it rattling, dunno, maybe coz its British in the USA, haha. Maybe the injectors near-by are the noises you are hearing, they can be clacky at times.
