Default Quad light wiring question

Afternoon all, I’m trying to install the quad lights on my car and have a couple of questions. Firstly as the main bulbs only have one spade connector which I presume is the live/ positive, do they share with the sidelight bulb for an earth/ negative? Or as long as they are all earthed does it matter? Secondly which lamp goes where? Does the one with the side light on it I.e. the one with two bulbs go to the inner or outer side of the car? Thanks in advance for any assistance

The one with the two bulbs go on the outside.

I'm not sure how to answer your other question. My quad light setup is from the SNG Barratt kit.

Thanks for that. The main bulbs aren't a type I have come across before. I've just noticed in my photo a little peg to the side. Is this for an earth?

Brinny
The main bulbs (that go into the inside reflector) are H1s. The centre terminal is the live one. The outer bulbs are H4s. The outer reflectors normally have in UK cars a separate sidelight feed (live and earht) and a three terminal connector for the main unit (live for dip, live for head, earth). The earth and live wiring for the H1s should be taken off the H4 loom. But test which of the two live wires to the H4 connector goes live when the lights are on main beam. This is the wire to go also to the H1s.
As to bulbs, i use Philips ones that claim plus 130% and they are really good.
i had to beef up the fuse from 10 amp to 20 when i changed my car to quads, as on main beam you have double the number of bulbs alight. The 10 amp did not actually fail but it got VERY hot.

Thanks for that Greg. Is the little pole in the photo for the earth then? I think when I’m sat in front of it I should be able to work it out now.

I think so, it is obvious when you are in there, as the earth spade can only go to one place connecting to the steel body of the lamp unit.

On my quads I have upgraded to H4 and H1 LED bulbs. https://www.bettercarlighting.co.uk/...&productId=755
