Default Random tube and plugs

What is this? Seems like it’s for climate control, can’t really trace it back, goes too the left side of dash and is in a tight space.

That's the cabin air temperature sensor for the climate control system.

I'm not familiar with the older XJS, but on the sedans there is hole in the overhang of the dash top and it fits there. Look up under the dash top and see if there is a fitting for it to attach to.

That piece is a push-fit into a hole just under the roll of the dash top. The other end goes via a metal tube to an orifice in the blue blower ducting.
In the first photo, the 1/2 inch diameter metal tube can be seen entering the blue ducting, also it is clipped onto the dash support. The black flexible also going into the T on the metal tube is the other end of the fitting you asked about.

This phot shows the pieces in close-up. the tube with BL CVL on it is the flexible. It goes up behind the glove box and the fitting you posted is just a push fit into the back of the dash roll, where you will see a special hole, about central to the glove box lid shut line. This allows cabin air to be drawn into the heater unit and that electrical gizmo sends the cabin temp to the aircon amplifier - which is one of the inputs to the automatic temp control system.

Thank you so much, the pictures alone helped a lot. Gave me a good idea how the harness runs and the climate control. Very appreciative of the help fellas, got the sensor back in it's spot. Glove compartment was b*tch to get back in though !
