Hello everyone. I have an 87 XJS V12 5.3l and the reverse light is "ON" constantly. Does anyone know the location? Centre console within car or under vehicle by transmission?
When you actually get to the switch you'll see that it's a ball-type thingy. The ball get pressed into a socket to make contact. I've had a couple stuck that required nothing more than a spritz of [insert name your favorite aerosol lubricant here]
The switch is adjustable between two nuts on its threaded centre. It has probably just come out of adjustment. IIRC, you only have to remove the ski slope, not the entire console to adjust it.

How did you remove the casing at the bottom of the transmission lever? Mine seems to have tiny bolts impervious to philips screwdriver? Also the switch is not on the right side of the transmission tower, perhaps the left? Hard to see without removing the cover, any help much appreciated
[EDIT: by the way what are those two plastic tunnels- does the XJS have climate control in the back?]

Also, regarding the tubes under the console, they are to direct air to the back passenger area. Most of us have removed them since the rear seat is virtually unusable. But that’s a “console out” job.
