Default A slight touch of brown lace

A minor problem, luckily it has just had an MOT.
Looks like it has been kept in a lake! A salt water one.

If MOT inspectors are as tough and unrelenting as reports lead me to believe, How in the World did this get past them???

I haven't seen a suspension component in that condition on any car still on the road!

Steve,

That's the front subframe removed from the car isn't it? In which case, that's the typical type of XJS front subframe corrosion that can't be seen with the subframe in situ. And as you know, most MoT testers wouldn't be aware of it or know how to look for it.

There are probably a number of XJSs running around with similar problems!

At least with a new MoT, you can fix the problem and then put the car straight back on the road without retesting it!

Good luck

Paul

I know, cool huh? Although to be fair it's not actually a suspension component, it's just the bit that all the suspension components are bolted to!
Also to be fair that section is only visible once the whole lot has been dropped; it looked fine from underneath.
The 'list' is getting ever longer!

'The Man' is going to have it retested once all 'The Work' has been done just to be sure that everything is ok; all very noble but not helping on the wallet front!

The rest looks absolutely fine, that's the annoying thing. Usual repairs to radius arm mounts of course but sills, wheelarches etc all good.
