Default Slight whistling sound from engine at idle

I cannot locate where the sound is coming from exactly. Does anyone have a clue as to what may be causing the sound?

This is where the fun begins.

It could be any number of things, and there a many, many areas.

Some I have experienced are:

Vac hoses, and on a Marelli, there will be many. ONE at a time diagnosis is the only way here I am afraid.
Throttle body to inlet gaskets.
Throttle body to air filter base gaskets.
Throttle disc whistle, that was one car only, but it took some finding.
The hoses on the AAV do split, and they would whistle.
Inlet manifold to cylinder head gaskets.
Injector lower (small) seals.
The seals on the throttle shafts in the throttle bodies.
The PCV plumbing, as in hoses and/or the valve itself.
The hoses at the rear of the RH inlet manifold that supply vac to the trans modulator, and the climate system.
The gaskets on the 4 end plates of the 2 inlet manifolds.
Vac blanking plugs under each throttle body.

The list goes on, but I think you get the drift.

I use a piece of garden hose, put it up to my ear and move it around until I hear the unwanted noise, it is very effective at locating those noisy bearings

Dude...Who are you!!!!! Thanks....who knew a garden hose can work such wonders! I've located the sound....but I still have to find the exact problem. Sounds like a cracked vacuum...but we'll see thanks again.

One more question....I am going to tune this motor up this weekend. Is there a thread that lists the recommended parts needed?

Try the belt tensioner, test bearing with bench with belting on. Otherwise check the belting for crack, cut/torn.
