Took my original factory boot spoiler off and plugged the holes. However Iv'e kept it just in case the next owner likes the the look.

If you must have a spoiler it's best to do it properly !

Whatever you call them, spoilers, wings, air dams.....on race cars (and some high performance cars) they are placed to perform specific aero functions. Reduce drag, direct cooling air, reduce lift, provide downforce....

But on most street cars they are just for show. They are simply mimicking the ones on racing cars. In that sense, they are a lot like tailfins that mimic aircraft.

There's nothing wrong with that. Style is important and fins look good on some cars. But don't screw on a fiberglass spoiler with the expectation of any real performance gains.

i think its more of a form thing on the XJs. if it actually did much on our cars, which it wont because of those big buttresses, then TWR would run them.

im all for a spike strip to keep people off the boot
