Default V12 cam cover gaskets?

Having mine replaced while other work is being done on the car. The previous owner replaced them a few years back. Not sure if the old paper gaskets or the newer Ford 'gortex" gaskets were used.
Regardless, what gasket works best and how to ensure some non-leak longevity?

I've used on the Gortex on my V12s and am happy. I can't think of any special tricks other than the age-old advice to make sure the surfaces are pristine and torque the screws evenly. No leaks after several years.

Cheers
DD

Same as Doug here.

Also make 100% sure the PCV system is working correctly, thus preventing crankcase pressure and leaks a plenty.

Same here too. Remember thet sealing the half moon seals properly at the rear end of the cams is essential. There are alumioniuim ones available and I recommend them highly. IF you use the OEM rubber ones, Grant has a system for ensuring they seal.

Thanks for the memories Greg. Another bottle of Red to be consumed when I get up there.

The OE half moons are just fine.

BUT

I liberally coat the "moon" section with Hi-Temp RTV, Grey if your market has it, looks better than the Red if that concerns you.

Then a smear across the face prior to gasket fitment.

I no longer run gaskets on there for any of the engines, just a good bead of RTV, guide studs, TIME, and beer, or course. That does not sit well with many people, but noe of mine leak, full stop. Same with Trans Pans, NO gasket on any of them.
I have a PDF if interested.
