Default Vacuum pipes

Evening all. I have a question on the vacuum pipes that go to the end of the inlet manifold on the drivers side. There is a little cluster of 3or4 pipes and a blank. Does it matter which pipe goes to which or are they all supplied the same bar the one that is blanked. I know one is the trans vac pipe not sure on the others. Much obliged.

It does not matter. One is the gearbox modulator, one the aircon vac source, one the full throttle vac switch, forgotten if there is another or not!

Isn't one of those Vacuum pipes for the EGR Valve that goes on the Cruise?

EGR Valve for the Cruise Control

I have a feeling that gets vac from the other end of the manifold, OB (I have removed my cruise).

Absolutely right there Greg. The CC bellows get their vacume from the A bank front vacume connector.

OB, that is by the way not an EGR valve. EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. A vacume is no recirculation. That is simply a vacume switch. And even that isn"t fitted to all XJ-S models. My 89 had a working CC and direct draw off the intake manifold. No little vacume switch at all in that area.

I think that vacuum switch was originally part of a recall and subsequently incorporated into normal production for certain markets.

Cheers

Yes, it was incorporated after recall, there was cases, that CC could not be turned off (when was connected directly to vac) and this switch corrects it.
