What adhesive to use?

Clear silicon is a great adhesive. It will stick almost anything to anything, it's flexible, easy to clean up and can be removed if need be. Get an automotive brand and check to see if it is sensor safe (to prevent the vapors the silicon gives off when curing from corroding the contacts in the switches) BYT you will need just a small amount to do the job.

RogB,
It sounds as if the clips on the bezel have broken off. That bezel is a very tight interference fit. It's usually so tight that people often remove the whole key slope in order to work on or remove the window switches.
The one for the convertibles is still available new, but the one for the Coupe isn't. However, I think there's someone in the US (Terry's or Paul's) who makes a replacement one that is easier to engage the clips.
Hope that helps
Paul

Likewise, my window switch bezel won't seat either. The clips broke off. So I lifted the center wood console up (removing a few screws, etc.) to get access from underneath. Using some spring-loaded wood clamps, I temporarily seated the window switches/bezel assembly securely to the center console (where it should be), then epoxied 2 small wood blocks underneath to the switch holder (left and right side with 6 min epoxy), making sure the blocks butted up against the underside of the center console. Presto; seems to have worked.

RogB,
I still don't know if you've got a Coupe or Convertible. If you've got a convertible, then it's part number BCC2303. You can buy from your local US Jaguar dealer with no shipping charges. Alternatively, you can order online for delivery to your dealer with no shipping at:
Centre Console-Ambla - Parts For XJS from (V)179737 to (V)226645 | Jaguar Heritage Parts UK
I think that when you access the site from your end, it will show the US prices anyway.
As mentioned, I think it was Terry's who have developed an alternative with softer clips. I remember seeing something on the internet about this and think it was teh Terry's part. I have emailed them today but haven't had a response as yet. If it is the Terry's part, you can order here:
Switch Bezel - Terrys Jaguar Parts - BCC2303X
Hope that all helps

RogB,
As mentioned, new ones are still available from your local Jaguar dealer about $20. However, the design is such that you really have to fit them once and then never try and take them out again. This means you really need to remove centre box or else ski slope to get to window and hood switches.
However, the revised ones are from Paul's Jaguar (not Terry's) and claim to be a different design which is easier to fit and remove. See here:
