If it doesn't sell for a price I will except, I'll keep her...

No no no no no! After all that superb work you have done, keep the faith. Buy an elderly Skoda or Volks to keep you mobile and put this behind you. Lowering the seat an inch is doable if absolutely necessary, given a welder and a bit of butchery, or recline it a touch!

I adore the car... It is lovely... But I'm not sure... I hung some "for sale" signs up today at the "Bremen Classic" show, to see what interest is there... I'd love to finish it... But with my back as it is at the moment, I don't see it happening quite soon.

And as an everyday car, I don't want anything else other than an X300! VW, Skoda, Audi, MB, Ford blah are all below my standards

It isn't sold yet and I can always decide different when needed... I would like €10.000 for it... I won't budge on that, so if nobody is prepared to pay that, the Iron Lady stays

To-day Sunday: February 8th 2015

An absolutely beautiful day, Warm with plenty of Sunshine!

So I decided to Start my XJS after laying her up for the Winter at the end of November.

Started first time on the 'button' with Oil Pressure 5 seconds later.

White Smoke/Steam from the rear exhaust on the drivers side tail pipe but no White Smoke/Steam out of the passenger side tail pipe.

'Panic!' was I about to have a 'Mirelli Fire!'

On further inspection, there was the same amount of exhaust pressure, coming out of both 'Tail Pipes'

Then the engine seemed to die but just before it stalled, picked up again.

She only did this twice, then settled down to idle and ran like a bird, so I'm thinking that the lay up, may have caused it?

I let her run for 20 minutes, then backed her out of the garage and fitted some Speakers that I found in a Hi Fi Shop.

Plus a Hi end MP3 player.

The end result was awesome! The Sound just blew me away.

Daim: I was really sorry to hear about your mishap with your Jag and also thought you were referring to your XJS.

Very glad to hear you are OK!

Have you thought about getting a Merc for a daily driver?

They must be Ten a Penny where you are.

Ordered the rear spoiler and two thermostats and air filters. Tomorrow going to order the radiator hose kit and slowly replace all the hoses this spring. Dealing on another XJS convertible but cannot go over it for another month before I make an offer. That's about it. Sure wish spring would hurry up and arrive so I can bring her out of hibernation. I am lonesome and have been since I put her away.

Hi Chris

I know the feeling! but Spring was very definately in the Air Yesterday and the first time that I didn't need the Central Heating on.

AKA my Woodburning Stove which I recently made with my MIG Welder.

If the XJS had been Taxed, then I would have taken Her out for a shakedown run.

But as things stand I will Tax Her from March 1st as I still have a little bit of fettling to do.

So really only 3 more weeks to go!

It's not the norm for me to get so attached to a vehicle. All my life, I viewed an automobile as just 'means of transportation' and never allowed myself to go beyond that. There is something about the XJS that turned that all around for me. It is Not just another 'set of wheels' like the 50+ autos I have had over the same amount of years. The person who designed the XJS must have been in good standing with the Lord. He must have had 'divine inspiration' to create such a piece of Art.

Malcolm Sayer.

Also designed the E type and the XJ13.

Keith Helfet and Geoff Lawson where nearly as inspired but not quite like Sayer. Maybe Helfet was.

I just had my leaky trans cooler lines rebuilt. No more oil drops on the garage floor.
Also, my car was intermittently missing and I had lousy gas mileage. So I replaced my six ignition coils - they were original! The car runs great now. And finally, I had my two rear side light bulbs replaced. Now I don't have to tap them to get them to turn on. Hated that...

I was going to pull my stereo head and work on getting that cassette free, but I stripped a screw in my endless brilliance and efforts to remove it stopped shortly after guests arrived. Maybe next weekend.

Daim Does this mean you have repented of your loss of faith in the Goddess of XJSs ? We all hope so! Greg

Well, the Goddess of an Iron Lady is to be kept and the XJ8 with no name will be used as a daily driver... The Iron Lady still gets her touches and care

So I didn't do anything (except for get a few compliments. Circumstance has me driving in the winter against my better wishes and judgment) but I had a "brilliant" plan to cut down an FM transmitter with Bluetooth connectivity and conceal under the ski slope with the controls in the ash trays. I figure since no one is ever going to smoke in my car and I refuse to buy a cupholder ski slope (because I don't want to encourage drinking in my car either) I might as well put those ash trays to good use.

Now I just have to get that stupid cassette out of the deck. Call me crazy, but I want to keep that thing in the car as long as I can keep it working. Adds to the charm, in my opinion.

Just before I left for sea I ordered a chrome version of the V12 and XJS badge for the boot.

Seems to be taking ages!

Today I picked up my 115 amp alternator and all the wires and junk I need to do that early kickdown mod. Going to be near 40 tomorrow! Can't waste that without breaking a sweat under the hood!
