This Car has a Scorpion 197 Alarm Immobilizer and I think it is the reason why the Car won't start.
The Key Fob button doesn't work even with a new battery, even though I accidentally managed to disarm it by touching two wires together.
Do you know if an immobiliser switches off the fuel injection or what it does so the Car doesn't start.
I would really like to get rid of the Immobiliser altogether if only I knew how.

Normally immobilisers will either interrupt fuel or spark supply. It sounds like an aftermarket installation. See if you cam find the box and trace back the wires. Remove and achieve factory setup again and then try. Just pullong a fuse isn't enough... As you'll still be stopping the power from key to injectors/coils.

Its a very sophisticated Alarm that seems to be plumbed into the main wiring loom and the PO paid around £450 to have it fitted as an option back in 1990.
For which I am assuming that it does a bit more than sound the horn and flash the lights, as such I wouldn't be surprised if it also interrupts the fuel supply.
The problem is it no longer responds to the Signal from the Key Fob.
So not being a Car Alarm expert, it could be a difficult part of the problem to eliminate, if it turns out the injectors are not getting a Signal.

Couple of suggestions. Contact the company and/or order a replacement remote:
Scorpion Automotive - Supplier and manufacturer of vehicle security alarm systems and mobile communication Interfaces
Either they can tell you why the system isn't responding to the remote or how to reprogram it, or send you a replacement.
You could also see if they have installation instructions available, which you could use to "uninstall" the system.

Cheers, I'll see what they have to say.
