Default 2007 XKR dead battery Frustrated!

MY 2007 XKR has been in the shop for 2 weeks now. If it is not driven every three days ( I wish I could!) the battery goes dead. They have tried everything but can't find the problem. Any thoughts out there? The battery is brand new. Thanks, Jim

You may want to review the thread about the same subject that I started a couple of days ago. In it I have some suggestions to prevent dead batteries (BatteryBrain)

There have been several Jag Tech Bulletins about battery consumption - see if you can check that all of those have been carried out.

Does the car have a tracker system installed? Those can cause a lot of drain if they go faulty.

Buy a CTEK 3300 Smart Battery maintainer and hook the eyelets onto the small battery terminal screw posts. Buy the CTEK Comfort Extension, and be sure to plug in the cord to the maintainer every time it sits idle. Be sure to lock the car even if parked inside the garage to make sure computer system in the car shuts down all electical modules. Most Jaguar owners are using this brand.

Here's the link to buy at Amazon.com......

By installing the CTEK 3300 it will end allot of frustration.

Be sure to read the above thread entirely.

There is a problem here beyond the CTEK. The CTEK is a band aid. He states that his battery runs down in 3 days, just exactly what happened with mine this week. That is NOT normal and should not be accepted as such. At times we are forced to be away in places where one can not connect a charger for days.

He has a new battery, mine is two years old. So, likely not a battery problem but, something hangs up in the electrical system and fails to shut off the current draws upon exiting the car. As I posted in my thread, upon shutdown there were several steps as the current gradually kept dropping from about 11 Amps all the way to 0.04 Amps, which is normal. If the process of dropping hangs at one point that would be the problem. In my case it hung for quite a while at 1.4 Amps which would account for a 3 days (100 Amph/hour) drawdown to complete failure.

After charging it, looks like my battery is OK and right now it is sitting with a normal discharge of 0.04 Amps. The best would be to install an event recorder that keeps track of time/current/voltage history. I used to have access to those at work but, no longer since I am officially retired.

Default Thank you all for responding

Thank you all for your suggestions. I am going to forward a few of them to dealership that is working on the car. I'll post any solutions. Still a great car!
Thanks again, Jim

Default 2007 XKR battery dying

Up date. the dealer found the seat sensor modules were causing the battery drain. $500 each plus install = $1700
Battery tender here I come!
Thank you to all that posted!

Hopefully two problems solved. I had the dealer update the ECU on my XKR today. He said the software was still the original 2010 version which had that particular issue with battery drain due to the MOST bus not shutting down properly. I will be monitoring the battery for voltage for a while without any trickle charge.
