I own a 2009 which was the last year for the 4.2L, but the car was built in 2008. The door jam sticker provides month and year of production.
I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Body was carried over from the 2007 revamp. Most of the kinks worked out. No engine problems for me so far. XK has 5.0 L, 385 hp. A little less low-end torque than the 4.2 L supercharged (07-09 XKR), but it catches up quick. Nav system is slow and no Bluetooth streaming is a disappointment. Interior is top notch, as all 2010s came with premium fittings previously reserved for Portfolio trim on earlier models.

I was surprised to see a couple of 2008 registered 5.0L for sale here recently e.g.
Jaguar XK R 2008 | Trade Me
Judging by the warranty start date, that one was sold in October 2008. The engine number is 08071413122508PS so I think that means it was built in July 2008.

Strange that a car built in 2008 is a 2010 model. Also I didn't see the HP rating but if it is not an XKR then it would be the XK 385HP engine.

Model Year Confusion!
I'm fairly certain that the 5L XK/XKR began as 2009 models in the UK and 2010 models in the USA. Why? I have no clue.
I noted that the XKR in question is in Australia. I suspect the Australian-export cars followed the UK model year, so if it was the first year of the 5L it would be a 2009 model, manufactured in 2008.

Still, the dealer is incorrect in advertising it as a "2008".

The car is in New Zealand, not Australia. A lot of our European cars are imported as second hand cars and this one was imported from the UK in June 2010.
If the car was registered in 2008 then over here it is advertised as a 2008. MY doesn't count.
Interestingly I thought that the 5.0L VIN started at B32752 but this car is B31936 so I wonder if it is some sort of early test car?

That was the thought I had. There was bound to be a few late pre-production units that were not thrashed to death and were thus candidates for sale as 'used'. It would be very interesting to see what the bodyshell looks like; it may have some post-build modifications.
