Default 2013 XK Gold Badge

Is there any significance of a 2013 XK that has a gold badge in the front grille as oppose to the silver. Looked around but could not coming up with anything. Check the vin# on Topix and it didn't particularly include any thing. I'm think of some sort of trim level but really didn't find anything definitive as to the trim packs available for this MY.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Could have been an aftermarket custom job.
My cousin's son worked at a shop in Florida that did gold plating (or coloring, not sure which) on auto trim, for those owners that wanted a higher 'bling' look.

Yes. You probably own the Jaguar Fort Knox model. Extremely rare, that most other people have never heard of.

Are there any other interior parts in gold or outside emblems?

Jaguar made several highly special limited editions. There are a very people on the forum, that own a 2009 Jaguar XKR Portfolio Edition Convertible like myself. In our case, only about 10 found here on the forum. Jaguar only produced 200 of these cars.

In other cases/models, Jaguar only produced just 75 of one model.

From what I understand and perhaps read previously, Jaguar only produced 10 of the Fort Knox models, rare indeed.

The saying is "He Who Has the Gold, Sets the Rules". You have something special, so be sure that you set the rules, on who drives that model you have.

Richard,
Nice try but, seriously, did you really think I'd believe that about a Ft. Knox model?

All Jaguars are Fort Knox models, they can cost a bundle to owner and maintain.

We are looking at purchasing the car which is coming off a lease. With that said the chances of after market badges would be slime in my mind.

The rear leaper and trim piece also appears to be gold.

The car color is Italian Racing Red. 20" wheels

Topix has it as a Version 35, & Marketing Level 1 not sure if that is of an significance.

Thanks again,

The original dealer could have had it done also, before the car was sold, or at the request of the customer. As I said before, my cousin's son worked at a shop that did that, and it was often to new cars still held by the dealer. IIRC, he had a mobile unit, and often did the work at the dealer's location.
I've seen gold leepers on eBay, and the other trim was probably not factory.

It could be the Klondike upgrade but they were for west coast cars.

By the way Lexus offers gold trim options for their badges.

Lexus dealers in New Jersey also offer a gold and diamond chain link logo necklace. You can also get a matching license plate frame. Not available in any other state.

We did purchase the car. The gold badges were owner installed but by the dealer. The front grille badge, the rear leaper and XK badges are acceptable. The side vents and the trunk finisher is a bit too much so those will be replaced back to the chrome ones.

As compared to the 05MY this 13MY is major improvements in every category.
Very well pleased.

I bought a 1995 Mustang GT years ago and it had all gold tinted "chrome" pieces. Came from the factory that way, and I've never seen another one with it.

How about some nice photos of your Gold Badged Jaguar. We would like to see how that looks.

Agreed!! The "gold" side vents look very tacky.

By themselves, I've seen better. If they were incorporated into a 'theme' where the rest of the shiny bits were matched, it would be OK.

Wouldn't look bad with black or even gold rims IMO.

Replaced the side vents with the chrome OEM, much better.
Used them to determine how to remove the coating and with a 3M swirl remover and Pinnacle polish they returned to bright chrome.
I did the trunk finisher and it came out great. Will need to removed the leaper to do it.

It appears to be mounted with double stick tape does any one know for sure.

While I may be able to do the growler on the grille in place does anyone know how to remove it?

Polished the car with the Pinnacle today and looks even better with a deeper hue. Need to get a second coat on it to really make it pop.

Found two scratches that need paint repair but not too bad. While I used Paintscatch in the past their color for the Italian Racing Red doesn't look right. Looks like AutomotiveTouchup has a better match. Anyone used this Dr. Color Chip product? Looks simple.
