Default 2013 XKRS

My 2013 XKRS does not have Sirius/XM function. I have been told Jaguar has a module that may be added to the existing audio system. Could someone confirm this and provide any suggestions regarding sourcing and installation?
Thanks,
rsfan

Welcome to the forum rsfan,

I've moved your question from X100 to X150 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Sean,

rsfan has posted an Intro with this information which is why I didn't include my usual 'hint'.

Location is Kingsport, Tennessee.

Perhaps a simplistic question, but have you scrolled through the radio function "Modes"? It may just be that you do not have an active paid subscription to Sirius, but do have the software installed. Check this first.

Hi rsfan and welcome to the forum. Yes it can be added if it isn't already there.

I can give you some basics, but can't speak to variances in the XKR vs XKRS, but I wouldn't expect there to be any.

You will need at a minimum:
The SDARS antenna - located in the roof pod on the luggage compartment lid (convertibles) or top inner surface of the rear window (coupes). The antenna receives satellite radio transmissions.

The SDARS Receiver Module which is located in the trunk stack between the bluetooth module and the multi media (Navigation) DVD module. It's in line with the MOST network so you will need a small bit of fiber optic cable to tie them in.

It's probably pre-wired and the fiber optic cable may also be there and bypassed, your mechanic will have to look.

Once the parts are installed, the hardware will need to be activated using SDD. SDD is Jaguar speak for Symptom Driven Diagnostics, which is Jaguar's proprietary interface that controls hardware/ software and system updates/ modifications.

You will want to find an independent mechanic who is well versed in Jaguars. (hint, if they don't have SDD system, they are not well versed). Alternatively a Jaguar dealership can do this install.

I believe once activated, the controls are visible in the touch screen.

Others will add on or correct me where I'm wrong. As you're in N.E. TN, folks in your area can chime in on a good shop.

Suggest you go to Topix (see top of page search box) input your sr nr as per instructions and you can get a copy of the build sheet. You may find out there whether or not you have a built-in satellite receiver. Your best bet is to scroll through the sound options in the infotainment center first.

It's pretty simple really, if there is no Sat Radio in the audio menu, it's not fitted.

As mentioned, it can be retrofitted.

It's possible that the car is pre-wired for Sat Radio, if you check in the side of the media attack in the boot where the Nav DVD drive is, you might find some wiring looks like this;

The red/black 2-pin plug is the power, the grey fakra connector is for the antenna. Ignore the white 2-pin connector that's for the transit relay.
