Default Accidentally refilled with Regular Unleaded....

yesterday. I think it was 89 octane. I assume the car isn't going to blow up as a result, but was just wondering if it mattered one way or the other if I should mix in Premium after I get the tank down a bit or just wait and refill with Premium once I the tank is low.

Thanks.

No, your ECM can handle it, though your HP and MPG will be down. But do add premium when you can add 4-5 gallons. Also, it might take a couple of tankfuls of premium before your car is back to optimum performance.

89 gas aint gone hurt nothing. As long as you been putting 93 in,it's just gone subtract your octane level down to a 91 or however the graph is that you can use to add the octane levels up

Since your engine is not supercharged, you should be fine. As guy mentioned, for peace of mind, they do sell bottles of octane booster.

I would not lose sleep on it. You'll be just fine.

If you pumped diesel into it I would be worried. Gas is gas, no worries. A tank of regular will do no harm.

I'd be more concerned with whether what you're putting in is Top Tier gas, rather than the octane of said gas.

The sooner you add 93, the longer it'll take to remove the 89. Run it down to the gas light, then fill up with 93 and move on with life.

Are these engines really that fickle?

Correct answer, but you are too gentle; it should be in capitals: NO . The engines are not in any way temperamental, assuming proper maintenance. An occasional octane goof will not harm the engine but "Italian tune-ups" on lower octane should probably be avoided!
