Default Anyone had this noise in their X150?

Hi all.
I have a 2006 XK X150 coupe. I have a strange noise inside the car when driving that is intermittent and mildly irritating. It sounds like a Geiger counter! It doesn’t appear to be the rattle of something loose. On a long drive it won’t start until I’ve been driving for a while, and then just as randomly it will stop.
sometmes it’s quietly subtle and far away, and sometimes it’s more noticeable and louder. I’ve tried eliminating possible culprits by removing the spare wheel, cover and tools, it’s not the leather seats or upholstery.
anyone had something like this?

Have you checked the tires for an embedded nail or screw?

OR, check that interior exasperator or whatever that fan thing is on the dash that looks out of place. The insides can get dusty dirty and interfere with airflow. Take off the cover and GENTLY clean out the insides.

I had a annoying noise that would randomly start and stop at various speeds.
It took me awhile to find it. I had the car on my lift for a oil change and spotted the problem. The dust shield on the differential was cracked and loose. It would start spinning with the driveshaft and sent a humming noise through the car.

All my A/N fittings look like crap. Mostly because they used to be on aircraft, and also because of open-end wrenches. My newer ones are still nice though.

Does this require a lift or any disassembly to remove the dust cap? I'm having the same issue.

Thanks!

You will need to jack up the car high enough to slide under and pull it off. Nothing needs to be removed to gain access.

Understandable, but surely you need to disconnect the drive shaft to install a new one?

I live in Las Vegas. I put about 1000 miles a year on it running errands. I have other vehicles and have never driven it in the rain. I haven’t worried about replacing it.
If a new one doesn’t have a split in it you need to drop the driveshaft.

If the noise sounds like an intermittent Geiger counter then the culprit could be the Sounder.
it sits under the bonnet below the airbag that pops the bonnet in an accident.
I believe the sounder is permanently in CCT and when faulty can run the battery down
A little difficult to get to but can be done.
The sounder is the same as a Ford one..
It’s the thing that beeps when locking the car.
In the UK we may not have the beep as it is possibly programmed out as mine is.
I changed mine when I got the Geiger counter noise and replaced with new Ford one off Ebay for a fraction of the cost from Jaguar
The change procedure has been written up on here. Search on sounder
