Anyone know of knowledge shop or independent mechanic who could perform a good pre-purchase inspection in the DMV area for 2013 Jaguar XKR?

I'd pay a Jaguar dealer to do a PPI using their CPO checklist.

Stuart is right on. You don't identify where you are or what XK or XKR you are looking at in your signature block. There should be a good dealer within a reasonable distance of your location. While you are at it a Jaguar approve body shop should check out the body. Total cost should be in the neighborhood of $550-$600. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I think I have used every Jag shop in the DMV. If Chantilly Jaguar will do a PPI that's great. If not, you can try London Auto, R&R, Topline, Master, or even Loudoun County Exotics.

A lot of places are shying away from doing PPIs so you may need to call around.

Best!

Ha, I feel silly now. I was wondering how all of you knew where the original poster was from, since I thought he as looking for an inspection that covered anything the “Department of Motor Vehicles” might care about. I had never heard of the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area referred to as that. It took me a few posts but I finally figured it out.

And just so this post isn’t all about me, you may want to also ask the question in the regional area of the forum, and get a response from owners of other Jaguar models.

DMV refers to the swampland of government entities and where their employees live. Used to be 40 miles from DC but it's crept up to 70 or so now.

Isn't that the DMZ that separates us from the enemy?

Same here, had me baffled. Guess our states out here, west of the Appalachians, are big enough that we only need to refer to one at a time.

My mistake! The Northern Virginia part in DC metro area is hard to refer to as VA. A lot of people call it DMV or DC metro area. Thanks for responses, I'll also check in the regional forum. I had a 2013 Jaguar XKR, 3 owners, 24k miles I was looking at about an hour away. Dealer is against me taking it near me for PPI and there are no jaguar dealers near them. Without the PPI going to back out of this one.

All good. It actually worked out better with the niche nickname. It allowed you to reach the people who actually knew what you were talking about. It was just us ignorant country bumpkins who wern't from around there, who got confused. I'm sure you will get it all sorted, and get a car you want, and feel comfortable knowing you know what lies below it's depths as well.
