Blank nav screen 2014 XKR
Hi all new to the arena. I am having major dramas with my nav screen. It went blank and would come on for a few seconds then off. a day later it would not turn on at all. I changed the battery and that didn't fix the problem. I took to my local jag dealer who advised after a few days of playing around with the car that I need a new nav screen. Cost $4 to $5k . It was replaced 2 days ago and still not working. I read in previous write ups that the battery was a root cause.?. I would have thought that the jag dealers would be all over that ?. I have a great looking jag with only 8000 ks not much use. Is this going to be the start of many visits to my new best friend at Jag dealership.?

They may have hosed you good.
When you buy a "new" battery at any store, they don't have near a Full Charge. A ten amp or higher charger is needed, for at least 24 hours to get an actual Full Charge.
Time for you to troubleshoot, charge up your battery for a good while, then check your screen and everything else again.
90% of all electrical gremlins stem from low battery voltage.

nav unit problem
Hi Cee Jay.
Sorry I didn't go into too much detail. The original battery was checked by a Auto parts supplier who said it was in good order ? But I insisted on getting a new one. I took the car for a long drive and started to look at the nav screen.... only to have it go off after a few seconds. Then totally off that's when i took it to a Jag dealer. They supposedly put on a diagnostic system overnight and advised the nav screen needed to be replaced. I have had a new screen fitted yesterday and that didnt work either. this is the reply from the dealer.
"As discussed on the phone over the past 2 days we have had an issue with programming the supplied Touch screen for your vehicle XKR.
Tech reports had been sent after all avenues where exhausted at Dealership Level, there was no ground to be gained with the request for ‘’WebEx’’ where the vehicle would have been controlled remotely by Technical Branch, the Tech Team instructed us to simply replace with another unit, as the units are supplied on an exchange programme, it will have to come from the UK. I have contacted CRC on your behalf and have since had notification that the order status has been escalated to higher priority level and should therefore see the item dispatched to arrive earlier that first estimated, the original lead time being 14 working days (3 weeks approx.).
Once again my apologies for any inconvenience and hope to have the matter resolved sooner rather later."
I just don't want to find out that this to be a continuing saga.
cheers
i hope it wont be.

Welcome to the forum Jet.
The touchscreen in these cars can be troublesome sometimes.
The original programming method with the dealers diagnostic tool used to take 2-1/2 hours to run, and would pretty much always fail towards the end. There is another method of uploading the operating system to the screen via a USB port in the top of the screen housing. This method kind of dropped off the radar and maybe the dealer techs don't know about it anymore. The software is no longer available to download from the JLR intranet, but I have copies of it here along with the instructions how to do the software update via USB.
I'll send you an email with my contact details.

Jet, it is unfortunate that you are having this trouble with your XKR. Though this is not a small niggle, it is an amazingly solid model so, hopefully, this is one of the few issues you'll encounter.
Like Stuart, I noticed your location and commented to my wife that it was one of the most picturesque locations we visited a few years back. Just thought I'd throw that in.

Calibrate 2014 XKR Touchscreen ??
I have a 2014 XKR and I just replaced the touchscreen. The display is now working but the calibration is off. It seems like the X-axis to the right is not working. Is there a calibration mode to activate for this model?
