Default Car Cover

Does anyone have any recommendations for a car cover to use indoors while I keep my XK in the garage over the winter?

Default Great Fit and Low Price!

RichmondXK,

Yes, I can recommend a cover that fits great and is a good value for use in your garage.

Manufacturer/Model: Budge B-3. Price at WalMart $22.99 + tax; $22.50 delivered from this internet seller: Budge® B-3 - Car Cover

See it on my car and my detailed review in my Post #5 in this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-covers-82423/

Their fitted indoor XK (2006-2011) cover appears to be very nice, but it costs over $75 delivered. The Budge B-3 doesn't have mirror pockets and costs under $25. To me, mirror pockets aren't worth $50.

Just my !

Carcraft is a well known brand. Does Jaguar offer an OEM cover?

You may be right Stuart, but the OP did ask for recommendations.

Jaguar does offer a fitted cover, but way too much money IMO.

I bought mine, a Covercraft Dustop cover, from this authorized retailer on eBay...

Covercraft Dustop Indoor Car Cover Custom Made for 2007 2013 Jaguar XKR Coupe | eBay

Its fitted with mirror pockets and all.

"Budge B-4. Price at Walmart $22.99 + tax"

I just went out and bought and installed one of these for my XJR.

I wanted a "dust cover for garage only storage" since my Jag only gets driven about once a week or so. I got tired of washing it just to remove the accumulated dust.

The Budge seems like a great cover for the price, easy to install too.

As an added bonus for buying an XKR-S This last june, i made the dealer throw in a car cover and all weather floor mats. They got me a car cover from jaguar that was really nice....HOWEVER....they said it cost them 750 dollars!!!! WTH!?!?!?!?! The car mats they got were aftermarket at the XK has no all-weather jaguar brand mats to purchase :/ ... and they suck and dont fit right even though they were supposed to be for the XK.

My swatches from Coverking just arrived today! I really like the Jaguar green. The material is very soft on the underside. They run around $400. I also found California Car Covers (about $10 cheaper) and Specialized Covers (see Frog's profile). I got a quote from the Jag dealership for over $800 for the dealer cover, and they didn't have any sample to feel.

I also priced some spandex material (leopard print, of course) and it would run about $240 for the material alone. And then there's the bit about me not knowing how to sew... So anyway, $400 seemed a little more reasonable after that.

In the meantime I purchased the Budge B-3 cover (~25 at my local auto parts store) and I must say it fit perfectly. It feels rough to the touch, like that paper synthetic material they make disposable hospital garb out of. I ran it through the washer and dryer several times before I felt it was soft enough to put over the car. It's ok if you're going to put it on and leave it on in your own garage over the winter, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're going to remove/replace it frequently. It's also pretty thin and won't protect much from door dings or bumps and scrapes.

Just for fun I printed out a Union Jack with my inkjet printer and transferred it to the front of the cover

I have a Budge too, never thought about washing it to soften it up, great idea. Did you use detergent? What about fabric softener? Cold or hot water? Warm or hot iron? (Just kidding about the iron part. This sounds like a Martha Stewart forum, lol!)

LOL. You noticed I threw in the "I don't know how to sew" masculine disclaimer, right?

I washed and dried it about three times, at first washed it in cold water only and air dried it, afraid it might combust or melt, but that didn't do much so I gradually got hotter and hotter with both, eventually throwing in fabric softener, some detergent, some carpet cleaner for good measure... I was reaching for the Draino, but decided it had had enough.

My brand new car cover from BillTracyJaguar.com!

It has an extremely soft fleece inside, and it's thick to protect from bumps and scrapes.

For the vehicle-specific option (Budge® - Budge Lite? Car Cover) the size options are "up to" 14'2", or 16'8"... which one are you all talking about for the Budge B3? Will the slightly smaller size stretch to fit the 15'6" of the XK8?

The one up to 16'8" is the one, I think.
