Default Convertable Top Replacement DIY'er

FWIW I'm sort of in the middle of replacing my Top & Headliner.
After rationalizing cost of materials, cost of installation, and my DIY skill set I elected to do it myself.

Be aware that places you buy tops from will not honor the warranty if you DIY.

I was able to get some good support for MT Manufacturing which provided me with a fairly good guide.
I also got assistance from GAHH support tech.
I pulled together all the information out of the Workshop Manual combined it with what MT Manufacturing gave to to put together our own plan for the replacement.
It is a 2 man job (my son & I) in my opinion and definitely when attempting to do DIY. Also a 2 day job.

For the most part removal of the headliner and top went well.

Installation of the headliner went well, just had to work the headliner to window Velcro attachment to the rear glass took a little more time to get it wrinkle free. No Biggy.
The outer top we did present a couple issues:
1) the alignment at the rear side windows and side carriers that are riveted in place we misaligned when reattaching
2) Also the alignment and attachment of the rear side weather seals we didn't get quite right
3) This all affected the final closure and seal of the top on the compartment lid.
4) We also misalign/attached one of the straps that helps the top fold correctly when closing and it separated from its attachment to the top.
After speaking with the GAHH support tech he recommended I leave it loose and just help it fold when opening the top.
I'm sort of a believer in "necessity is the mother of invention" so we will see. At least no damage to the outer material or the underside of it.

Basically we got a couple hours to rework/alignment of these items above and hopefully everything will work out.
I will follow-up when complete.

Hopefully this will give some insight to others trying to decide how to replace their top.

When I'm finished I will finalize my plan with more details, my experience, and pictures with the intent to share with the list.

You can't say that I didn't warn you. From my Post #1 in this thread: New Convertible Top Installation

I hope you get everything sorted and are pleased with your new top.

I'm confident that I will be able to resolve this final fitment.
Thanks for your support.
FWIW my horoscope said to develop and prefect my plan before sharing it with others
I'm trying.

Dana, you must have a preverted sense of humor. Ask me how I know. My horoscope said that I wouldn't make it out of here alive, but I'm still trying.
