Coolant reservoir looseness/play
After my water pump replacement last week, I noticed my coolant reservoir has some looseness or play, when rocking it towards the front of the car and then back. It seems to be at the bottom of the reservoir where I can not get a look at. I'm not sure if it always was like that or not. It's not excessive but I was just wondering if anyone else has the same play. I would assume the reservoir should be firmly secure with no movement. My car is a 2010 XK non supercharged engine. PS. I plan on taking it back to Jaguar, but I don't want them telling me they never touched it during the water pump replacement. Thanks All.

Thanks Jahummer for the feedback. That's what I'm thinking. I believe your 08 has the same part number...Do you happen to know if yours has play or is your set up customized?

I replaced mine with the latest version. It has no play, rock solid. It’s a bit tricky to angle it into the groove on the base.
I took my car into Jaguar today to look at the reservoir. The shop foreman checked a later model XK in service and it too had some play (I was there to observe) but not quite as much as mine. I was told that they don't remove the reservoir or the lines going into it during the water pump replacement. That does make sense, and I can believe that. The shop foreman told me it needed to cool down for them to investigate further. He mentioned that removing the reservoir required the removal of that cross bar on that side of the engine, (not a simple adjustment). Considering what's going on with the virus crisis, I didn't want to pursue anything more at this time (with people getting in an out of my car) and if I decide to, will address it in the future. I'm sure the reservoir is not falling out of the car anytime soon.

Not really necessary - and a lot easier - to not remove bar...BIG Torx needed. Replaced one on my '07, and, once the reservoir retaining bolt was removed, a good pull on it and it came out. As Jahummer mentioned, the bottom of the tank has a "V" on it which slides into a matching slot on the body. Previous repair person prob didn't slide it into its slot. Slide the jug toward the engine, and should tug out. (Hint
I Dremmeled the tab down slightly so that the next soul that has to replace the tank has an easier time of it.
