Do the regular things. Check for spark, fuel and correct timing. Get yourself a scan tool and make sure there's no codes which might point to an issue with getting any of these things going. Also check the battery and make sure you have a good source of power. These cars do not perform well with anything below 12.5ish volts.

I have lots of experience with this situation. In addition to the good suggestions by LJRXKR,
1. Change all fluids and filters before you start it.
You didn't mention the mileage nor the reason for the sitting. ,Plugs, belts, pcv valves, brakes may need to be looked at.
2. The first time you feel inspired to her, do not depress the brake pedal. Press and release the start button and wait until all dings and chimes have subsided.
3. Read codes.
If you're pleased
4. Then depress brake and then touch the start button.
5. Let the idle come to a natural rhythm.
6. Then go for a casual ride to get it up to temperature. 20 miles or so.
Back to the shop, read codes.

After the long period of sitting, do not be alarmed by the initial sluggishness, erratic idle or dirty exhaust. It will clear.

thanks for the info . car has been sitting idle for not mechanical reasons. it used to work perfectly .
have removed the filter and with the fuel lines free unplugged , i have started the car and there is no fuel draining out . it seems that the pump is not turning on .. i put my ear too on the tank cap area when starting the electricity (no crank just start ) and no clicking sound ..

have an autel maxikom mk808 scanner will try it and see if theres a way to activate/diagnose the fuel pump . the fuse 33 is ok i checked it

i wish that my fuel pump is not dead . any ideas on how to make my pump alive again . the problem is that the tank was left empty for a long time and im afraid that oxidation and corosion has hapened inside to damage the pump …

im thinking to poor another 20 litrs of fresh gas to see if it comes alive
let me know your thoughts

if the pump is dead i must remove tank - rear subframe - dif first right. 😞

A warning borne from experience -
If there was fuel containing ethanol (E5 or E10) left in the tank for four years there is every possibility the ethanol part will have decomposed.
I experienced this with a series Land Rover resulting in rubber melting, steel parts rusting, filters and carbs blocking. Fortunately it was a stainless steel tank that could be washed out but the pump, fuel sender and filler tube were all knackered.

If would inspect the tank contents, particularly for any watery liquid at the bottom.

I think you should hear the pump pressurize the system for a few seconds if the pump is ok.

I think here was a thread where someone had accessed the pump by removing the right side rear seat - can't find it though.

Here's a link to online manuals if you don't have them:

4 years near empty. And ethanol fuel.
yeah, I concur with my colleagues gummed up lines and a deteriorated pump are possibilites.

You have no fuel pressure in the engine bay?

If safe to do so, either power the fuel pump relay or attempt to start the engine with the main fuel line run into a bucket. See if you're getting any flow.

I cleaned the lines from filter to fuel rail - the colour of the left fuel was black like water ..

I added more fresh fuel inside - however the pump seems dead - no fuel drops from the lines that are open with the fuel filter removed .. while I start the vehicle many times on and off .. pump seems dead

What relay is for the pump ? Fuse 33 I have found it on the back seat middle part board .. it's ok .

A fuel pump failure is possible, but a rare occurrence.
I wonder if the internal fuel filter is clogged.
Fuse... checking... yes F33, 30A.

i think I will have to remove the tank to clean it and maybe swap a new fuel pump module .. have read a bit.. subframe removal first ... and then the tank..

I will try with my autel maxikom mk808 scanner to energise the pump and see .. if no life is there .. tank removal is the only way ... what do you think? any other suggestion?
