I admit that I haven't been through all 17 pages, but the installation couldn't have been easier on my 2013 XKR-S. I needed only a 10mm socket with extension and used existing nuts on the positive battery clamp and the bracket that holds the DVD changer to the trunk floor. I used a multimeter to check that there was zero resistance between the negative battery post and the bracket, so I'm fairly confident that it's an adequate ground. I then used a zip tie around the suspension cross-brace to provide strain relief for the pigtail, and I can have the connecter either above or below the shelf (not shown) that covers the spare tire (if I had one) well. I do also have the CTEK extension cable. The car will unfortunately mostly be parked in my garage for the rest of the winter here. I should be able to find time in to install my Eurotoys upper pulley, though.

this is a fantastic thread thanks. I bought my CTEC and hooked it up to my totally dead battery just to see the results even though I plan on buying a new battery for my 2012 XKR. WOW the car lights started flashing on and off as did the whole dash board and the driver window went part way down. It looked like a UFO. Anyway I disconnected. Is this because my battery is totally dead? Car won't start by the way.

The easy answer is yes. You should get a 10 amp (min). charger and try charging the battery for several hours . It may take the charge so you would be able to start and drive it to get a replacement battery.
