There IS a big amber light that indicates the rear fogs are on. It's at the bottom of the tach gauge.

Default Leave 'em off

I too leave my rears off. They are very bright on my S Type and I know how I get when people do stupid things on the road. I do, however leave my front fogs on. I checked them out and they are not very bright to on-comming traffic. It could be because they need a good polishing. I'll turn them off when I clean them up if they get too bright.

Mike,
Yeah it's probably like your state. I wouldn't think much of it if I were in a larger city such as Huntsville or Birmingham. But here in bfe, it's terrible.

My curiosity got the better of me :-). No such warning lamps in the cluster on my X300....nor any mention of them in the owners manual.

Must've been something added to the later cars?

Cheers

I have special place in my heart for those morons that drive around with front fogs on in the city, unnecessarily blinding everyone. Its not like we get a lot of fog here in Phoenix. Like ever. So its never an 'I forgot to turn them off' issue.
In the case that someone comes at me with fogs on and there's also no other traffic around them, and its otherwise safe, I'm not averse to giving them the high beam of my HIDs. As I would do if I was behind someone with their rear fogs on for no good reason. Especially stopped at a light.

Day or night, they do the same thing.
Soooo... Lets see if I understand your logic here.... You have a few people that pull close to your bumper but in fact have not touched it...

Have you thought that maybe the reason they pull so close is so the front end of their car actually blocks out that blinding light?

It would be my guess that you are deliberately causing the problem you claim to be preventing....

Vince, I had this nice reply with my thoughts on your post. Most were excessively in bad taste since that's the way I took your comments. I think it's best that I keep my comments to myself which shows I am a better person. Hopefully you will have an event free driving career without any drivertail gating you, cutting you off or talking on their cell phone causing an accident.

I live right on the NJ shore, and the fog can get VERY VERY thick at times. The rear and front fog lights on my XJR really cut through it nicely. That being said, i have used the rear lights once or twice when someone was tailgating me to make them think i was brake checking them haha

Good question, do the fog lights work without the headlights being on?

UK law prevents that and I can't imagine Jag changed the system if there are no contrary controlling regulations here.
