Default Duckbill tube dash removal cost

Just a fyi, my duckbill clogged and I tried every trick. Bit the bullet and had Jaguar remove dash and replace. Cost was $1188 U.S. **** isn't cheap in this car, but I can't have water pouring on my ladies legs. Next is the droopy headliner. I have one in route and hope to have that done by next week. I sure love this car though!

Did you try the "Cut through the heater box and get it from the inside" trick?

No, I didn't. I didn't want to start carving things up yet. Maybe when she is older.

So Jaguar charged you over a thousand bucks to fix their own mistake. Wish I could do that with my clients.

Unfortunately that’s how the business works. Paid out of pocket for 2 water pump replacements even though JLR has been using the same failing water pump for over 10 years across almost all models in It’s Jaguar and Land Rover models and paid thousands to replace various coolant pipes that failed due to poor design, again parts used across multiple models from both Jaguar and Land Rover.

Airbornecat, not to throw salt in the wound, but there's a way to fix the duckbill in less than an hour at no cost. I called it the third way, as opposed to through dash or lowering transmission. This is how I did on mine, and no problem since

No salt partner, just reality. I am an eternal optimist and all cars have something that drives you nuts. I tried a long tool with mirror to see and wasn't working for me. I was hitting the inside with a mallet and worked for a bit, but still leaked. The idea of putting the blade on your finger is great, but I have hands like a Grizzly. Cutting the box on the inside, or adding a tube on the inside to bypass would have driven me crazy. My Dad had a 68 XKE and he would roll over in his grave if he saw me carving things up. the girl in the picture reaching inside, should charge by the job and all of you near can have her do it. My skillsets are few when it comes to working on these cars, so I just bit the bullet. Thanks to all for input! I have an old duckbill now for sale for $1200.00. Any takers?

So, I could buy yours, cut it nicely, so it looked like it was supposed to be that way, and replace my hacked up version? Let me think about that for a bit... Nah...
