Is there anything that can be done to improve the stock microphone?

One of my higher priority projects this summer. I need to look at the OEM setup to see what can be done in the allocated space because I have several mikes from lapel to professional floating around my basement.

Anything has to be better that the OEM one...

I have installed of a couple of these electrets with aftermarket JVC headunits with Bluetooth in XK8s with very good results: Omnidirectional Mono Microphone

It uses a standard microphone jack?

No, I cut off the jack and wired the mike directly in to replace the crap ones inside the JVC headunit.

There was a TSB issued about a replacement microphone + updated software (see attached)

"Cause: This is a combination of microphone positioning and noise cancellation/signal processing within the phone system software."

That bulletin is for the X150 not the X100 steel bodied cars.
