Question Folding Side View Mirrors

Do the mirrors fold in on the XK? I really loved that feature on the VDP. Can the day time running lights be shut off?

On my 12 they fold in when the car is locked and the DRL's can be programmed either way

The mirrors don't fold on our 07' models. But it was an addition on the later years. I don't know about the running lights. Mine are not turned on.

I didn't see where I could turn on or off the DRL's from the NAV screen. Haven't had a chance to dig deep into owner's manual either. Very interesting seeing how Jag does things from one model to next.

The transition from my XJ8 has been pretty easy so far. Such different cars, but yet very similar.

On my 12 the dealership programs them on or off, but they can't just have the LEDs on as running lights/DRLs like the xf and XJ's

on my 10 the mirror fold option is controlled via a toggle in the touchscreen config menu. I had it on when I first got the car, but then noticed there were a couple times where it failed to open or close them when I unlocked or locked the car. You can override it by pushing the left and right buttons at the same time.

My 2004 has both folding and dipping N/S mirrors (for reversing so you can see the kerb)

2011 Fold (programmed) and dip. Double button push will also fold them in. This feature saved my car as I squeeze it into the single side door!

Yes they do.

You can either have them fold automatically on power off, or you can do it manually (if going v slowly or stationary, press both of the mirror select buttons at the same time).

I have an 07 model XK.

How do I have them fold automatically when locking the car with remote?

Vehicle settings on the touch screen.

As an aside though, I never use the remote to lock it - always the door button. I guess though this is cause mine has keyless entry too, so the fob is always in my pocket.

Gotta think there is a way to fold them on our US 07's. I really love that feature on my VDP.

This was a common discussion on the Audi side of the house as well.
The US models did not get the option till several years after Europe had it(what we called ROTW or "Rest Of The World" settings).

Although the Audi ECU could be activated (The Audi ECU has been fully cracked) our mirrors lacked the motor drive and wiring. No a cheap upgrade when people started digging into it.

I cant speak for Jag, and will certainly go play with my 07 to try... But I bet this will be a similar situation...

As DRL is used in Canada, it should be a simple software switch in the ECU to activate the function... Just finding a US dealership willing may be hard....

Leading me to my next thread. How do I shut off the DRL on my car? I was not expecting them to be on a US model. I have original window sticker and car was bought new in USA.

Has anybody mentioned that the US base 07 XK cars do not have power actuated folding mirrors?

Ah - was it an option then?

It was available in all UK models.
