my Name is Tom, I live in Germany and I own a 2013 XK. I love the car and I'm going about 15000 mls/y mostly on the Autobahn. The car works well, but I get a lot of code faults with my semiprofessional code reader (no obvious malfunction). The battery seems to be good. My idea is that any ground point has gone bad. Therefore I want to inspect the factory ground points. The XK electrical guide shows the ground symbols but does not inform about their location in the car.
Does anybody know where the ground points are located?
I often find lots of codes have been recorded when I run an SDD session. Many are not errors but simply "out-of-range" readings which record a diagnostic code. If the vehicle is running well, you could be looking for trouble that is not really there.
Here's an example of a check session on my XK:
Lots of codes listed but nothing there to worry about.
1) You say "The battery seems to be good" how do you know? How old is it, ,do you load test it or have it on a CTEK maintainer regularly?
2) Why have you not had a screen name like ;XK- Schleicher?
some of your codes are also present in my car. I am calmed down.
Hello MarkyUK,
1) The Battery is 1/2 year old and every 2 weeks it is on a CTEK. 2 times per week I go for 100 mls and I have nearly no short distance trips. So I think the cause is not the battery.
2) I own a TVR Griffith (1994), too. Years ago I joined the german TVR Car Club. They called me "TVR-Schleicher" because I was the slowest on the road (translated "TVR-creeper"). Over the Years I got used to this name.
