Default Headlamp assembly plug removal

Quick question if I may. I'm removing my headlamp assembly, but having trouble removing the electrical connector. I am able to twist it clockwise about 1/8 of a turn, and assume it should now pull out - but it does not, and I am reluctant to force it. I checked the service manual and it does not shed any light. I searched these forums for headlamp removal but found nothing about the plug. This makes me think I'm missing something.

Is it simply twist and then wiggle it out?

My apologies if this has been covered and I just missed it.

Thanks all in advance.

It’s not a twist lock, it has tabs that you must push in and then the plug pulls straight out...

This is very helpful - thank you. I see the problem. The tab that is supposed to be on the bottom of the plug is broken off. I hope I haven't hurt the connector by twisting it.

I'll take a look and see if I can figure out how to remove it in the absence of hte tab.

Also - may I ask what manual this image came from? I did not find it in the service manual. Maybe I just missed it?

Thank you so much TT.

I just did all this today. That connector is not a friendly one. A person would think that it would sorta click either on or off, but mine did not. I'd figured out HOW it was supposed to work years ago when I tinted my headlights, but can't for the life of me remember the connectors being as finicky as they were during my bulb replacement.
Oh, and be a bit careful...... the round part where the wired connector clips straight on to IS a twist-to-loosen thing, so it may get wonky. Make sure it's back in place and snug before you reattach the wiring connector.

It's in the Owner's Handbook under bulb replacement. If you don't have a copy, see this thread for a PDF download:

The original printed documents are available from JLR's printers:

The website is aimed at Jaguar Dealers but anyone can register and purchase.

Ahhh - foolish me. I was looking in the service manual. Thank you!

And once again - this was very helpful. With this I was able to figure out how to use a screwdriver to pull on the remaining part of the broken tab and remove the plug. So once again - thank you!

Thanks you Cee Jay - I will look for that!
