Help with 2008 XKR Seat release
Hi, I finally got my 2008 XKR delivered from UK to Brisbane and drove it to Cairns (keep the smirk off!!) now its home I have a problem: the drivers seat recline button jammed in the recline position. I Managed to release the manual seat tilt forward handle and now cannot re-engage the seat tilt catch. The seat motors all seem fine (after I also had to replace a dying battery) The recline motor appears to work but unless the seat tilt catch is caught, I cant prove they are OK. It has been to local Jaguar dealer who says after stripping the seat down; it is broken and need to order a new seat frame (at least thats what I thought he said) I have tried to look for threads on this topic but have had no luck, perhaps its the terminology I am using ??? Has anyone else any experience in this defective part and how I can investigate or fix? Thanks

According to the manual, the seat tilt lever pulls a cable attached to a latch lower down on the opposite side of the seat. I can't see an image of the actual latch.
It is possible that the frame is broken; unfortunately, (or, fortunately for me!) I haven't had to deal with any seat issues, so I can't help much.

Broken seat frames (the metal) was an issue back in X300 days. Let's hope it hasn't come back to haunt us with XK's.
A Jaguar Dealer will only fit a new frame and not repair one. Repairing something like this isn't the Jaguar way of doing things. No reason why it shouldn't be your way and if they have already told you the cost of a frame, I'm sure you'll agree!
There are few parts available separately for the seat:

The release cables happen to be one the exceptions (items 2 & 3)
If it's only the release mechanism that is at fault, a repair could be possible. More details needed.
