Question Help finding XKR/XKR-S Badge/Emblems

I wanted to visit the Jaguar parts department to buy a new R and -S emblem and they came back to the counter and said, they can only sell me the R emblem but for anything S related you need to show proof of ownership of a XKR-S to buy the $50 S badge/Emblem.

Anyone have any ideas on how to buy the -S emblem or maybe a Vin # to use? The dealer said its not them being a PITA but rather customer service who asks when they try to order it. Maybe a similiar or exact -S emblem exists that is not from the dealer that is the same size and font I can use?

I think they are just trying to protect the exclusivity of the "S" types. Probably trying to keep someone from badging their car as an "S" when it really isn't.

I think so to, I just figured saince I massaged my XFR to produce more power then the S that a S emblem or S+ emblem would be a nice touch to let it show that this is no stock XFR. Just a thought, and I found it interesting how they wont even sell a badghe. I can see if it was a VIN tagged item like a fender, doors, trunk lid,etc but not a simple glue on badge.

Call me when you have a chance. I might have an option.

Jaguar did the same thing when the original XKR was introduced. They wouldn't sell you a louvred bonnet without proof of ownership.

I wonder if it goes the other way too? If I had an XK-RS, I'd be looking to "downgrade" from the hideous front on those cars to a standard XKR version.

Totally agree on this. I was at the dealer this week and the sales person was showing me the XKR-S and I was impressed except for the fact that the front end looks like a cartoon version of a blood hound. It would look so much nicer without the jowls---what's the purpose of these things? The sales person said something about aerodynamics---hmmmm?

Some times it's infinitely better to keep your offensive opinions to yourself so you don't insult those on this forum that own the car that you're critical of.

You're right and I apologize for my comment.

Tastes vary. If I've personally insulted an owner, I apologize, but I still will maintain the XKR front is much better. Feel free to critique my car if you wish and I will love it just the same without feeling personally insulted, and I'm sure any XK-RS owners love their cars as well (I'd love to have one, but I doubt I'll be in a position to buy one anytime soon, if ever) As is, the XK-RS is far more beautiful than 98% of the cars on the road today, but the front end lets it down. A quick fix would be the XKR front.

I think people in general are too easily offended anymore. When I was in college we would spend weeks or months on an architecture project to have it sometimes torn to shreds in critique. Some of it made us better and some of it was simply personal preference. The key is to separate the work from the person and in this case the car from its owner.

I have to agree with Keith, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone has their own likes and dislikes, if you happen to dislke the look of a particular car that is no reflection on the owner, simply a difference of opinion.

Those people who don't like the front end of the XKR-S really don't have much to worry about, because, most of the time, the only part of that car they would ever be seeing is the rear end. :-)

I really like the front of my Xkr-s. i think it gives the car a more aggressive look. I get compliments about the front end all the time from others who see it in person. I also like that it's functional- reduces lift.

Which XKR front are you referring to? The 2007 version? The 2008-2009 version? The 2010-2011 version? The 2012-2013 version?
