I assume this warning does not affect any other function other than being annoying and on your dash, but does anyone know what can be done about it?
thanks

On my 2007 XK Coupe it was a broken wire at the hood right hand sensor............. Hope this helps you.

Just so you know, "Hood" is roof, and "Bonnet" is hood.

I used contact cleaner on the sensor. It was noted that you should ensure the cleaner is dried before reconnecting the wires on the sensor.

You can't lock the car while the warning is on.
The solution I used is in post #4 here. You will need a small flat blade screwdriver.

If you can't figure it out take a paper clip open to U shape. Cut the xtra end off and stick it señor and put electric tape around it to keep it in and it won't touch anything.
Temporarily Quick Fix.

I had the dreaded warning today when out for a drive in our 12xk vert. I found that the micro type switch's U shaped wire was bent down and not making contact with the bonnet's latch bracket. (on driver's side)
I used a small thin screw driver to gently flex the switch's wire up so that it would be contacted again. Seemed to work like a charm for me.

I had the same message last year. After checking and testing the 'front hood' latch switch, I realized it had something to do with the convert. roof. Ended up just being the divider tray in the trunk for the convertible top wasn't making good contact in it's tracks.

I find the same problem with my XF, apparently, one should slam the bonnet down! I am averse to this, however, it does work

I would adjust the microswitch instead of slamming the bonnet!
