Default I purchased these items...how do you like my chances?

12V 50 Amp 600W DC Converter Power Supply

Amazon Amazon

Jaguar Land Range Rover Diagnostic IDS SDD JLR PRO 167 FULL CHIP Cable

https://www.ebay.com/itm/405405688804

Wish me luck!

Now you need a laptop computer with Windows 7 installed, and the entire 18 Gb of the correct version SDD to do the seat. THEN, you'll need to find the correct modified files to do the other things you want to do.
Yes, it takes awhile to get everything going, but then you can do a LOT of stuff.

SDD v167 can't do the seats?

I am hoping learned and experienced gents like yourself can smooth my learning curve. I had a '91 Vanden Plas and currently own a 2008 Audi A6, so I am not completely new to older, European cars.

Yes, I looked at that, but figured I could have SDD and cable for about the same price.

I will be disappointed if this version of SDD can't even recalibrate the seats. I won't be surprised if it's too new and some features are locked. If that is the case, I can always spin up another VM and use the same cable with an older version of SDD, 130 for example.

Ah, I just noticed the cable. My bad. A good Mongoose cable alone is usually a couple hundred bucks. SDD is, if you can get one, another couple hundred plus a ToPiX subscription.
If it works for you, great!

You're using and older version of SDD, right? Something like 130?

I have the last stand-alone version, no ToPiX required. No idea what version it is, it's been years since I installed it. Don't pay attention when I use it.

I just checked; V 1.48.

Mr12Volt doesn’t use aux audio, it uses the usb/iPod module. Look inside the console to see if you have it.

i was looking at that power supply as well.. but.. it is 12V and the SDD wants 12.5 at minimum - Ideally 13.8V that's I why I ordered a bench supply from 9-15V regulated with 13.8V 50Amp in the back..

That's excellent news, because I do have the iPod port. Bowers and Wilkins system isn't very impressive, but I am accustomed to very good infotainment systems in newer cars.

I will be looking into the Mr 12V system pretty soon. I use my iPhone on a stand in my '08 Audi A6 and it isn't a great solution.

Would the outcome be that SDD will draw a little on the battery to supplement what it isn't getting from the power supply, would SDD refuse to launch, or do I risk bricking the car? There is another model that purports to self-adjust up to 15V as needed that I can get instead.

IIRC, the first time I used my current power supply, SDD refused to let me make changes as the battery voltage was below threshold. Changed to heavier cables and that allowed enough juice to flow and just barely stay above threshold and perform the update I was attempting.
Pretty sure you risk bricking if the voltage drops during a module update.

Hmm, bricking the car does sound sub-optimal. I am just going to recalibrate the passenger seat for now. If SDD complains about voltage, I will have my answer. It will be a minute before I do anything that would actually involve programming. I am tracking the backup camera discussion, for example, which might require some programming at some point. I will have to consider a different power supply when I come to that place.

Thanks for the info!

powelld91, I'd be very concerned with your choice of power supplies. Besides your suggested power supply only being rated at 12v, I don't think its cables are anywhere hefty enough to carry the required power. I cut my 8-gauge jumper cables down to 2.5 feet long because at 12 feet they wouldn't keep the voltage high enough for SDD. When SDD is being used and especially when programming, there is significant power draw that will require your power supply to instantly provide more juice.
Check out my post from yesterday at: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...3/#post2834791

I see that you're wanting to enable AUX. I just enabled AUX about a month ago after researching and acquiring everything necessary. My SDD was a free download of v130 for an Oracle VirtualBox that had the necessary configuration file and offline username and password. The power supply was an Iota DLS-75 purchased used on eBay. And my Bluetooth adapter is JagAux which has utterly amazing sound when paired with the Bowers & Wilkens system. The JagAux also allows it to be programmed so you can use your steering-wheel buttons for pause, forward track, and backward track.

I see you're located in Houston. I'm in northeast Texas. PM me your phone number if you want the gory details.

Definite no on the power supply. You need low noise 13.9 volts constant. That unit only gets you to 12 volts. Low noise/ ripple. As to the cable and VCM, any version 150 or below won't require a Topix Subscription.
Wishing you luck

OK, I hear y'all and heed your sage advice. I will return the power supply. For the seat recalibration, I will just leave the engine running.

Thanks to @KurtC I was able to grab a used Iota 55 Amp with the IQ4 module at a good price on eBay, so I will not try to use the power supply I linked above.

Thanks again, all, for looking out for me. I tend to let my frugality rule my decisions, which sometimes comes back to bite me.
