Icarsoft i930
Has anyone worked with this diagnostic tool? I just purchased one the other day because my car is having a very odd problem that happens periodically. Occasionally, the car will be completely unresponsive, completely dead; however, the battery is fully charged. As soon as I remove the negative terminal from the battery and wait two minutes and put it back on the car runs perfectly well. You just never know when that’s going to happen. The diagnostic tool shows zero codes.
also, since this 2008 Jaguar XKR did not come with Bluetooth I bought an adapter. It appears that I 930 can program a Bluetooth adapter. Has anyone had any success doing this?

As others have chimed in... perhaps a grounding issue, perhaps the need for a new negative cable (heightened resistance), perhaps a fuse in the battery junction box...
The only way to tell is to get the DTCs (if there are any) and continue with Pinpoint Test A, in the workshop manual, under the section "Battery and Charging System"

Thank you for the feedback. Yes it’s very puzzling. I hate spending a small fortune for somebody to say they’re pretty sure they got it fixed because you never know when the car will be completely unresponsive. It might be perfectly fine for three months and then all of a sudden this happens.
instead of programming, a Bluetooth adapter I think I’m just going to buy an FM transmitter that plugs into the cigarette lighter

please continue follow up on your original thread.
Hi, when it fails do the side lights illuminate despite the lights being off? If so its probably a problem with the instrument cluster.
My car would fail if I opened the car from a distance say more than 3 feet away, when I opened the door the side lights would come on and when I pressed the start button nothing....the car would be dead. Only disconnecting the negative lead and leaving it to fully power down would get the car to reset but again the key needed to be inside the car for the reset to work. If I opened the car standing close to the drivers side window it would mostly work as normal and I believe it is some problem with the cluster not receiving/ incorporating the immobilisation signal correctly. Had to fit a new cluster and get it programmed which was a major PITA but works fine now.
Spent hundreds on new keys, batteries and diagnostic gear, eventually found an obscure post on a forum which pointed me in the right direction.
Hope you get it sorted.

Interesting, that makes sense. Were you getting any DTC‘s with the diagnostic tool when this happened? Mine come up clear, albeit I did not have the I 930 when it happens I ordered two new fobs which come in today.
Hi Brewzky, it was difficult to get connected to the system when it was effectively locked out by the Instrument cluster. Some modules came online but most wouldn't connect. I've got SDD and you can force the ignition on but it wouldn't bring enough modules on to get any further. Physically changing the cluster is a 20min job but the reprogramming is a nightmare as all the immobilisation and key data has to be transferred, you will probably also need an online session with Jaguar Service to change the mileage from the donor cluster to the true figure, maybe not so important in the States but here in the UK the mileage is recorded every year during the Annual Inspection (MOT) and any discrepancy will immediately devalue the car as all the information is freely available online.
Hope you get it sorted.
