Default Interior Door Panel/Trim Broken - Need Help!

So a friend of mine got into my car the other day and instead of grabbing the door handle, he grabbed the map pocket. He pulled pretty hard and the carpeted section of the door panel where the speaker cover is pulled away. Before I can say something, he banged the panel back in with his fist. A plastic piece of trim broke and the carpeted panel is now loose. I also found another plastic piece I can't identify. May be a piece of plastic that holds the panel in place. Pics are below.

Does anyone know how the carpeted section of the panel secures to the rest of the door panel? How would I take it apart to fix the panel? Part numbers for the plastic trim piece?

Help is greatly appreciated!!

Ken

Wow that sucks!!! With friends like that, who needs enemies... My guess is that piece of plastic is going to come with the door panel as an entire assembly. So your probably looking at trying salvage yards or online used parts stores for a cheap door panel just so you can strip that one piece of plastic off of it... Bummer

TT is right, there is not much that can be salvaged for reassembly on inner door panels (though I'm sure someone can prove me wrong on that). On the other hand, any repair you try couldn't be much worse than what you have now. In the past I've done some plastic "welding" with a heat gun that look almost as good as new. I'm just saying.

You'll likely have to rely on salvage yards or Fleabay. At one time I picked one up for my 07 thinking it was in better shape than my current panel only to find that it was much worse off. The bottom line is, if you come across one make sure you get good photos of it before buying.

Tuck the broken piece of trim back where it goes and see how bad it'll look super glued in place until you can find a replacement.

I hate stupid people...

Unfortunately that plastic trim is NOT available separately. My 2007 XK had a crack across the middle which eventually annoyed me so much I sourced a used replacement panel.

This looks like common headliner trim found on older cars. Try Summit Racing or eBay and you should be able to get a match or close match.

This is sort of key, is he like 16yrs old (not used to cars) and pumped up on steroids? Ask it would take some considerable force to do that damage....and who the heck grabs a door there to close it? The word DORK springs to mind.

In the UK interior trim is quite cheap when compared to the cost of a phone door, but if ordering on-line just ensure you have the correct trim codes

I don't remember what it looks like on the inside, but here's a thread with instructions on removing the entire panel.

I've never seen those sold separately, nor listed in the parts catalogue, so if you want to replace it you'll need the entire panel. If you do that, you'll need the interior trim colour code, which should be marked on the sticker in the doorway, like so (LEG = black):
