This is another situation where there is a lack of empirical data. And so it is difficult to help you.
What battery size? Rated for how much CCA? What is the charge of the battery when cold, in the morning? (And the car NOT running!)
Do you have additional electrical systems plugged in?
We with experience have learned to check the electric system first.
Additionally, there are pin point tests listed in the workshop manual.
we had previously done battery tests but it wont hurt to have another look and also collect the data you mention

so the problem is getting worse. the previous solution of waiting a couple mins does not work reliably. i have to cycle the roof multiple times ... eventually i get lucky but i suspect my luck will run out soon.

I took the car into my local jag shop (who i like). battery tested out fine.

this was the result of their investigation."We scanned vehicle and found various codes that can be found in the inspection for the folding top. We removed the rear seats to

access look at wires and sensors. We did not see any chafing or cut wires on any of the sensors. We put the top into service

position to look at the sensors along the b pillars all wires looked to be in the proper position. The next step would be to access the

folding top module to Ohm out sensors for the window regulators, trunk position sensor and hood down switch. we do not have

access to the values of the sensors so we cannot do anything at this time. We did fnd some mold along the top hinges seen in the

inspection pictures. We cleaned off, and cleared out the drains.

The latch motor is loud and struggles to open and close. At this time we suggest that the vehicle be brought to a Jaguar dealer for

further diagnosis and repairs."

The following codes showed up on some tests
  • B1067-13 Intermittent Trunk position sensor
  • B107A-23 Intermittent Hood Down Switch
  • B107C-11 Intermittent Hood rear quarter motor

On other tests additional codes appeared
  • B1067-13 Intermittent Trunk position sensor
  • B1076-31 Intermittent Front latch open sensor *
  • B107A-23 PERMANENT Hood Down Switch **
  • B107C-11 Intermittent Hood rear quarter motor
  • B107E-11 Intermittent Convertible top lid compartment cover valve 1 *
* new code

** changed from intermittent to permanent

searching the internet i see these explanations of a couple of the error codes.

B107C11 Convertible top rear quarter motor
  • Convertible top rear quarter motor circuit - short to ground
  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagram article and test convertible top rear quarter motor circuit for short to ground

B107631 Front latch open sensor
  • No signal
  • Carry out any pinpoint tests associated with this DTC using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system

So what does this all mean? I dunno. so before i take it to a Jag dealer we might try one experiment to replace the front latch sensor (waiting for a quote on that before proceeding).

thoughts?

I think the latch sensor wire harness is your problem. See my post at:

Hi, I had a similar problem and it was the latch motor. The plastic worm and wheel in the gearbox was worn and struggled to drive the latches to the locked position, I would get a top not latched message and the windows wouldn't roll up. I purchased a new worm and wheel assembly in brass from Amazon (its the same assembly as used on the BMW E46) it took 10 mins to fit as all has been fine. The gearbox/motor is now much louder with the brass worm and wheel but hopefully a bit stronger.

Hello Tommy, I am thinking I have the same problem, after waiting are you stating this car and putting up the top to get the windows to work or putting this top up without starting. I would assume it is running because the top is a big drag on the battery.

Sorry I didn't read the whole thread before I replied I am going to check the wires on mine also.
