"It's the battery, stupid"
Yes I always buy my batteries at Walmart. Better price and better warranty.
As posted above there are only 3-4 battery makers left. Walmart and Sam's do not manufacture batteries.
I agree with ericmcn above. There are a lot of Jaguars with parasitic drains in them. Dang hard to fix too!

:-) we will have to agree... to disagree.
Also, when the battery is done. ITS DONE. Don't fool yourself in thinking that your maintainer can get life out of a dead battery. The test: keep the car off the maintainer overnight. If you read 12.4v or less in the morning... its done.
Those of us with the sailboat bug know that there are significant differences in the qualities (and thus prices) of batteries. Priced an Optima?
Even the manufacturers (just like tires) have a different specs between batteries, which appear to have the same size. There is a reason Exide and Varta sell the OEM qualified battery for more money than the one you get at the discount parts store.
BTW, Thanks for using ITBS!

If you are still locked out, there is a positive jump point behind the driver side, rear wheel, left hand drive version. Hook up to that and ground to the frame somewhere and you'll have power to open the boot and doors.
My bad, I missed where you said you tried it from "underneath".

We do learn, but sometimes we are stubborn.. (speaking from experience)
About 2 weeks ago, when my Everstart Max (Walmart) decided to crap out about the 4 year mark, I was unable to get another replacement at Walmart as they were out of stock. I had no choice but to pick up a Duracell Ultra at a local Automotive shop. It did have a very recent manufacturer date. Sometimes we have to get what is convenient at the time of need. I've always gotten my batteries at Walmart in the past and have gotten close to 3 years out of them and sometimes less. I'll cross my fingers on the Duracell Ultra after reading the above comments. . I did read that East Penn makes both the Everstart Maxx and the Duracell Ultra in the U.S.

SMALL UPDATE:
I couldn't find (duh, I'm too old now to find anything) my H101 Lishi tool, so I sucked it up for $60 and had a guy cut a key off the code. The boot popped right open. Now it's just a typical battery change.
That, plus wifey ordered two new Smart Keys for me, and I'll have this working blade duplicated three times as to have three full sets and an extra blade.

We're going the the Dominican Republic for awhile, so it'll be a few weeks before I can do anything. My kid will be here watching dogs and house, maybe he can start doing some stuff.
Hmm, My current battery (always on Ctek when in my garage) was installed by the Jaguar dealer in May 2019, about three weeks before my purchase. This was a second replacement battery installed by the same dealer, since the original owner never bothered connecting the car on a battery maintainer. Still going strong.
