Default My new XKR

Hello, I just took delivery of a 2010 XKR that left NJ for CA. A week ago. This was purchased from a very reputable dealership and Certified it arrived with the headliner drooping on the passenger side. How common is this and how to fix? The rest of the car is fantastic. 28,000 miles.

Thanks

Congratulations! Pretty car.
That has happened to a few. (Thankfully not to me) There are a number of threads here to help you, look under 'headliner' with the search bar.
I can't remember who just now, but there is a detailed thread on the fix, with pics.
Coincidentally, many of us are contemplating changing the headliner up to something more sexy.

Welcome to the club!

Excellent, Congratulations.
As Guy said, plenty of info on the forum regarding headliners. Maybe visit a local auto upholstery shop to get an estimate for repair.

I would assume this was not a surprise to you and the dealer had sent pictures to show you what the issue was. As for repair the best way is to have it removed and replaced. Usually the foam backer on the liner deteriorates . Good luck with the car.

Congratulations. I had a similar headliner droop a few months ago. And while I intend on redoing mine, as a temporary fix which on the black suede doesn't show much, I got a syringe from the paint store, filled it with a fabric adhesive, poked it throught the drooping headliner fabrics about eight inches apart, pressed it to the roof for about thirty seconds, and no more droop.

It does amaze me that sight unseen buyers are ending up with surprises fron reputable car traders stateside

I have seen one car upholsterer, when faced with a split a buldging saggy headliner, cut and shaped it before reattaching and run an led encrusted leather strip down the middle...it looked pretty awesome.

Lovely looking car from the outside btw.

If you need a temporary fix.
Take three 1/4 inch wood half-round trims, shave the ends down to about an 1/8th and use them as ribs to hold the headliner up.
The trick is to make them long enough so that there is a tension on them like a bow, the half-round will bend in one direction.

Nice looking car! If it was me I would just try a hyperdemic with some glue in it and insert it directly through the headliner, inject the glue underneath. If you work from the edges it should be fine.

You're another inadvertent victim of Infinite Scroll, a Forum feature that did it to you. Fortunately, you can turn it off if you wish.

Thankyou yes!
I suggest that if you introduce another such extreme change to viewing behaviour, you absolutely should default it to off.
