Mystery Bracket (Attached to Frame Cross Member near Steering Rack)
I'm messin' with brakes today, and this is the first time I've lifted her snout--so this is all new to me. (Looks a bit different than the X-Type...)
I noticed a small bracket--no more than 3" in length--attached to the front cross member, near the steering rack. It looks slightly bent, and you can clearly see that there is a bolt threaded into it. I wondered if the top bolt loosened, allowing it to swing down like that, but there is a bent tab at the top which aligns with a hole in the member--so it appears that it's supposed to be positioned this way.
Anyone know what this is for? Is something missing? The odd thing is that if this were straightened and pointed downward like this it would actually be the lowest point on the entire frame.
I'm under the car all day and evening. Any quick help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the diagram! My engine tray is in-tact; this bracket is quite a distance from it as well. I'm wondering if it held the headlight fluid reservoir--or perhaps an exhaust bearing...
I may just remove it. Hopefully Jag won't ****** away the balance of my warranty.
