Need an electrical diagram for a 2007 XK Base Convertible
Hello,
I have a driver side brake light that works intermittently. I have a dashboard warning that states the lamp is out. I've taken it to two shops and neither have been able to fix it. It's not a fuse, it's not the bulb. The second shop said they would start by replacing the fuse box and that would cost $2,700. I have to have the car inspected by the end of Jan. 26 to renew the tag so there's a time element associated with this quest.
The car's VIN ends with B01231. There's a thread that links to a website to download the electrical diagram (mediafire.com) but there is no free option, or at least I haven't been able to find it.
I would appreciate it greatly if someone could provide the diagram to me or direct me as to where I could get, preferably, a free one.
Thank you in advance for your help! Please help me get back on the road!
A few people have had this problem - a new bulb from Jag cured the problem even though the bulb causing the problem checked out - here is one thread about this:

You’re a few hours from me. Cool. I’m in Charlotte.
There is a guy on YouTube Life in Cars. He does a Brake light fix I believe.
Watched it the other day when I was putting LEDs in the license plate lighting.
A bulbs resistance increases with age and use, the jag is maybe sensing the increase resistance as a burnt out bulb - definitely an easy check if a new bulb has not been put in. Others have reported that even new bulbs were not up to scratch - a Jag supplied bulb cured the issue.
Perfect! Thank you for posting. Did you ever see the opening scene of 2001 A Space Odyssey? That's me looking at the diagram but Momma raised an ugly baby, not a stupid one, I know just who to ask.
You may also want to check the chassis ground points. These have a tendency to break off due to the aluminum and steel reaction. Look at the ground point on both sides, near the shock.
The grounds are known to cause the type of issue that you have described. Drill and tap a new ground point .
Well then @McJag222 buddy, here you go in PDF. You can download them as they are PDF's. Just select the one you want, Open it and then save to your desktop:
I have a driver side brake light that works intermittently. I have a dashboard warning that states the lamp is out.
When you say working "intermittently" do you mean the lamp out is intermittent or the actual brake light is intermittent? Does the brake light light when the dashboard light says it's out?

- I got a dashboard warning, rear break lamp out, took it to the shop, the mechanic told me that they changed the bulb and they had "fixed" it but the dashboard warning would remain because there was a sensor that needs to be replaced but they couldn't find the part. I brought the car home, it did indeed work, a bit of time passes, I receive a text from neighbor, pic of my brake light not working, I had someone stand behind the car, light works fine.
I decided to, once again try to get the ignition switch to turn the engine on when I press the button (a whole different issue), so I took it to the shop (a different shop, btw). I asked that while they have it, try to clear the dashboard warning for the break light being out, that's when they told me the break light does not work at all and it would be $2,700 to try to fix it and that they weren't 100% sure that changing the fuse box would fix it.
I've been doing business with both of these shops for years and I've always found them to be honest and competent.
I have it scheduled for the dealership in a week or so, I ordered the bulb, $31, and I hope that is the issue. If not, I'm going to show them this thread and see if they can figure out the issue.
Also and most importantly I really want to say thank you to all of the people who have replied to my post in an effort to help me!

Thank you for all of this! I'm taking it to the dealership and showing them this.....

Those pics are for the front grounds - the grounds for the brake lights are in the rear of the car (G24, G25) - they could check them but they generally are not subject to corrosion like the pics posted by SDCR_XK.
Badonenow9,
Please update this three, when you find out what the cause of this issue is.
thanks
From dealership: 54513 found driver side brake light will not illuminate, found no power at taillamp connector, found no power at auxiliary junction box, found junction box has internal fault causing concern, must replace and re-test Part Number C2P20669
$2,357 to address the issue, I'm trying to figure out a work around, perhaps splicing off of passenger break light to power driver break light?
Any other ideas?

Reason: turrible speller
Update time! Gave up on getting a fuse box that would work, tried two, no luck, ended up wiring the third brake light to the driver side brake light, works great. I was concerned if we just wired it, the dashboard warning would continue to fire but it doesn't which I am very happy about. Soup to nuts about $950 to get it resolved. I've attached the invoices if anyone is interested in pricing.
A nice bonus was that the State of North Carolina charged me monthly fees and interest for not renewing the tag before it expired even though I provided them with the receipts of the car being in the shop.
So glad she's back home, now it's off to get the oil changed, it hasn't been changed in 14 months and I've driven it 750 miles during that time.
