Question Power Antenna

Hi everyone,

recently bought a 07' XK with only 40,000 kilometres (Canada). Nice ride but the antenna has got to 'go'. I have read about disconnecting the fuse and or power. For those who have done that, has it triggered any warnings on the dash? My plan is to disconnect power supply and instal a 5" aluminium and carbon fibre stubby antenna. With a bit of work it should be doable and I think will improve the current mast up look. The shorty would obviously be a permanent mount on top of the current antenna housing. My concern is warning issues on the dash if the power is disconnected to antenna. If anyone if 'power less' please let me know of any issues. Thank you.

I have a '97 XK8 and I pulled out the fuse with no adverse effects. I did not replace the antenna.

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XK/XKR forum. This is the place to post tech questions about your model.

I have an '07 and pulled the fuse after only a week, as I could not stand the whistling. No warnings, nothing just a quite ride.

I live in the mountains so, Sirius or CDs is the only answer. Didn't try to do anything beyond pull the fuse.

I pulled the fuse on my 07 when i got it so the antenna no longer goes up, it's ugly i think. Radio and sat nav, etc all work fine. Don't worry it will not put on any lights and after a while you'll forget about it and you won't even notice the antenna holder on the body.
Just pull the fuse if you don't want it up, after a while you'll not even remember it was there, everything still will work.
As far as i can remember it's fuse 4 , 10 amp, just does antenna. Located between the rear seats, just pull out center part between rear seats and you see the fuse box, then pull the fuse.

Another thing you can do when there is pull fuse 19, if you haven't it already done, seems to be the common thing to do now , it leaves your exhaust valves open all the time, great noise, gives the car a deeper roar all the time, will not damage anything, if you feel it's to loud just pop fuse back in.
You can leave the radio/cd off and listen to your car roar, it's a nicer soundtrack.

I pulled the fuse but FM reception is a little worse, and AM is nonexistent. Small price to pay!

I have never understood the mania about the aerial. My 07 aerial works perfectly (they work reliably for decades if kept clean and lubricated with silicone) and I have never been able to hear any whistle from the aerial as others report. Besides, it is like an extra toy that moves up and down. I think it is neat. And yes, I am over 35.
And to the Vancouver owner...we'll see you in Victoria July 17-19 for JAGUARS on the ISLAND? This is the largest Jaguar show in North America every year; your XK wants to be there because modern sports models (XK8, XK, and F-Type) are the featured models this year.

It's not that they don't work, it's that they look cheap and completely out of place in a car from the mid 2000s!

I don't mind mine when it's down, but I'd rather have the radio off than have the antenna up and ruin the looks!

The real reason the fuse needs to be removed is because Jaguar inexplicably programmed the fishing pole to go up even when just playing the CD player or sat radio.

Pulled the fuse and the FM reception is still very very good and the AM reception, while its still being received is at about 60- 70 % of what it was before. I'm a bit surprised I thought it would be close to 0. SOV211, thanks for the info on the Jags on the Isle. If I can swing it I certainly will attend. WE quite like visiting Victoria.

Default Missing Antenna

Someone damaged my antenna when they stole the cover off my car. I have the antenna out but I'd like to plug the hole. I have the correct paint. Anyone know of a "plug"?
Thanks

I noticed that too when I pulled fuse 4 for the antenna. Still get AM/FM, around town not so good but when I'm out in the open still good reception. Pulled mine originally because I do drive in winter and didn't want to damage antenna by going up and down when frozen. Transferred a lifetime satellite radio I've had on a home radio to the jag and with USB, 6CD don't listen to radio much anyways.

In regard to fuse 19 I believe that is only for XKR owners. Not sure if it can or has been done with an XK.

Sorry, don't have pics or video, but pretty easy.

Grab the center panel between the two rear seats about 2/3rds way up with a hand on either side and pull towards you. Should pop out about an inch.

Lift upwards and towards you to remove as there are lower hooks that run around a bar to retain the bottom of the panel.

You'll see a monster fuse panel behind it and look in the lower right section I believe and you will see F4 which is a 10A fuse.

There are fuse pullers supplied in the panel to remove the fuse.

Put fuse pullers back and replace center panel.

Good to go.

And around town I didn't get very good reception but out of town I did.

Fuse #4 out for about a week now - FM reception still good and AM still acceptable.

Fuse 4 gone as well and since I have Sat and mainly listen to that who cares about FM =)

Fuse 19 = OMG This thing sounds great in all speeds.

For Fstbmw1's benefit: fuse 19 (active exhaust system) is only relevant for XKRs, the XK doesn't have it.

After breaking 3 masts and replacing them, I had enough. I pulled the fuse a few years ago. I listen to Sirus so I don't miss the antenna.

Keep the fuse in the owner's manual wallet in case you want to use the antenna later on.
