Angry Problem with XKR, engine runs up to 3000 RPM - RESOLVED - choked cats

I have a 2008 XKR that is driving me complete f**king crazy and I no hope. My car had 114000 km and no major parts changed when the problem started. Had it since 2014 and no problems.

My XKR runs up to 3000 RPM fine, then switches to performance restricted mode and revs no more. Once I used manual and tried to downshift and rev further and heard a metallic rattling noise.

Took it to my mechanic. We did the following:

-Changed spark plugs
-Changed ignition coils

No change

Diagnostic shows:

P0302 2 cylinder - function error
P0304 4 cylinder - function error
P0306 6 cylinder - function error
P0308 8 cylinder - function error
P0300 Several cylinders - functuon error

We decided to go for the timing chains and all the parts involved (tensioners, guides, bolts, etc)

I bought the parts from Britishparts.com and my mechanic installed them.

Still no change!!!!

Someone told us to change the camshaft position sensor, and we did it. Still nothing.

Injectors work well. No other error appears on diagnostic.

Tried the car and runs rougher than before and still the same problem. Engine light is on, of course and restricted mode kicks in at 3000rpm.

Please help me, if anyone has encountered such a problem before and what else can be done... I am crazy with this situation, I have been almost five months without my car now.

Thankyou in advance for your advice!!!!

Who helps me is invited for beer in Prague!!

You have a choked catalytic converter.

The same thing happened to me last night 2miles from home, pulled the codes this morning, exact same list, hoping its a blocked cat.
I can smell gas outside the car, seems like this would make sense with a restricted cat?

THIS may sound like a stuck open fuel injector. Open your oil fill cap and take a sniff..... it it smells like a Chevron station, your oil may be full of gasoline.

Dang, I typed all that about 10 am Friday and let my computer sit until almost 10 PM before I actually posted.

Theres certainly a slight smell of gas, after standing for a day but I'm not running it until I know more.

Pop the unstream o2 sensors out and see it'll rev correctly. Easier than dropping the complete exhaust.

Thanks to Everyone for your help.

When I told my mechanic about the choked cat, he was like how come I didnt think about that...

To test the idea, he drilled a few holes and he told me the engine runs much better. Great!

I Will replace both catalyzers with new ones and see how it goes. Hopefully today I will be out of doubt and have my car back after almost 6 months waiting.

This car means a lot to me and I cant wait to see it alive and running well again.

Good news!!!

My XKR lives.

It was the cats... I dont know how is it possible that Jaguar hasnt come up with a system that gives an error when the cats are choked.

The important thing is that my car runs. Ive had "sportier" cats fitted and the sound is amazing. Will send some photos tomorrow.

Thanks once more to everyone for your help. If you ever travel to Prague, Czech Republic you are invited for some beers.

Good news.

I think in 2008 Jaguar's system was that when those codes occur at those sorts of revs only, then a trained tech knows it's likely a choked cat.

Since I've been busy, I gave in and took the Jag to the shop. All of the left bank sprak plugs were fouled with fuel. New plugs and after a start up #2 plug was fouled but the others good. Replaced #2 fuel injector and all seems fixed
Uncertain why what we believe was a stcuk oprn fuel injector would cause all of the one bank to miss but its now running like a champ

Because one stuck open injector lowers the pressure and robs fuel from the other injectors on that feed line.

My X358R has caught this virus too, at just shy of 150,000 miles. New ones going on next week. Top end performance is well down, although the engine starts and runs perfectly up to 4,000 rpm, an M5 was nearly able to keep up this morning.
