Question on OEM Back up camera on 5.0 models.
Guys who have the 5.0 model that came with factory OEM backup camera installed - your moving guidelines - do they move with the steering wheel? asking about factory OEM only, not aftermarket. Thanks in advance. Appreciate it.
I don't have the OEM reverse camera but I can answer your question: See Electrical Guide VIN: B44940 >. (2012 & beyond)
The guidelines move with the steering wheel. Steering sensor (fig 6.1, ABS) information from ABS via CAN to RSJB (fig 19.2, Parking Aid), Junction Box, Aux, via LIN to camera.
Bill
PS: The LIN is why replacement RSJB for 2012+ must be 2012+, but 2010-11 can use 2010+, including 2012+.

@Sean W ,
What you see is the result of my "looking into it".
I thought that it was you that I pestered for information when I was trying to figure out the CCF part.
Ultimately, I found the "softwareDownload.html" method.
I've done the reverse camera edit several times now without problems.
Tried several after-market cameras (before inflation).
Just kept the static guidelines and suspended my quest for the flex ones.
I'm not sure that the first generation (2007-09) RSJB can be replaced by 2010+.

Hi @Bill400 and thanks for the reply. I was asking for someone else who has a 2010, I think. I passed along the information but I'm with you and advised against messing with the RSJB just to get moving guidelines. Some aftermarket cameras now have them embedded. Others use GVIF (still). He's trying to avoid the aftermarket. Good to hear from you.

I should've closed this out. The gent that asked me didn't have access to the vehicle at the time. We agreed there are a couple of alternatives and I recommended he give this one a try:

So after the Mr12V install on my 2008, I noticed that the 3 camera connections are all Yellow composite video.
Makes me wonder.
Since I have a 2011 screen now, I’d guess the functionality exists to have the OEM backup cam.
with the bendy lines.
I’d just have to get the hardware?
And of course run it God knows where through the car.
(convertible)
But what plugs into the Fakra ANT101 connector?
I’ll have to do some searches around here.
Makes me wonder.

By hardware, I meant all wiring harnesses and such.
Just thinking with a 2012 screen/ICM, the software side will be there.
Just needs the signal.
I trried a couple of cameras from Amazon that had that adjustment set-screw, what a pain. The set-screw hits the side of the ball that the camera is mounted in, and immediately throws it out of alignment. You need extreme patience to try to dial it in and keep the picture level. Ended up stripping the threads in one, and stripped the hex socket in the other. They both went back. Maybe that one is better, but I’m not betting on it.

The LIN bus network in the 2012+ cars does more than provide realtime steering angle
input to the camera graphic overlay and is heavily integrated in the entire vehicle and as such wouldn’t be worth the effort. Would be easier at this point to buy a new car.

I cannot speak for 2007-09 XK/R, however:
As documented in post #3, a LIN capable RSJB and LIN capable camera is required for OEM curvy lines.
All XK/Rs have a steering sensor for dynamic stability control. It reports via the CAN bus.
The 2010-11 RSJB may be replaced using the 2012+ RSJB. Add appropriate wiring and OEM/LIN camera and it will work.
The RSJB (used) will require programming because the VIN will be different. When SDD resolves the software, it will recognize the 2012+ part and use the appropriate software.
My 2010-11 XK has fixed lines which I find quite adequate. The cost/benefit for curvy lines is pretty high.
However, there are those folks who do such things precisely because they ARE difficult.
PS: Everyone said that "You can't retrofit OEM blind spot monitor to the Gen 3 Tacoma". Actually, you CAN. (Pun intended)
